Boltons was an Australian bus bodybuilder in West Perth.

History

In 1888, Isaac Bolton founded a coach building business as Bolton & Sons in Fremantle. Isaac retired in 1912, with sons Alfred and Leonard taking over the business. [1]

In 1926, the business of Daniel White & Co was purchased. In June 1936, a new factory on land purchased from Holden in West Perth was opened by the Minister for Industry, Albert Hawke. In 1948, the company passed to Leonard's two sons. [1]

In the early 1950s, Boltons bodied 40 Sunbeam trolleybuses. During this period, Boltons established a relationship with Commonwealth Engineering. [1]

Boltons bodied over 400 buses and coaches for the Metropolitan Transport Trust on AEC, Albion, Daimler, Guy and Leyland chassis.[ citation needed ] It also bodied coaches for the Western Australian Government Railways [ citation needed ] and private operators. [1]

The Mercedes-Benz O305 was a single deck and articulated bus manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in Mannheim, West Germany from 1969 until 1988. It was built as either a complete bus or a bus chassis and was the Mercedes-Benz adaptation of the unified German VöV-Standard-Bus design, that was produced by some different bus manufacturers including Büssing, Magirus-Deutz, MAN, Ikarus, Gräf/Steyr, Heuliez, Renault, and Pegaso. The O305 was designed for use as a single-decker bus, however it was later redesigned to accommodate double-decker bodies.
