In 2019, the company partnered with ASUS for their GPU servers, acquiring hardware for their cloud gaming infrastructure. [12] [13] [14]

Boosteroid began its expansion into the United States market in 2021. [11] [15]

In March 2023, Boosteroid secured a 10-year partnership with Microsoft, bringing Xbox PC games to its platform, including popular blockbuster series like Call of Duty, Halo, Forza, Gears of War, in the course of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. [16] [8] [17]

In April 2023, LG Electronics announced the addition of Boosteroid to their TVs in over 60 countries. [18]

In November 2023, Boosteroid partnered with Samsung to integrate its cloud gaming service into Samsung Gaming Hub on Samsung Smart TVs. [19]

As of 2023, Boosteroid had reached $60 million in revenue. [20]

As of 2024, Boosteroid had reached $87 million in revenue. [21]

Technology

Boosteroid operates a distributed network of servers located in data centers across Europe, [25] [26] North America, and South America to deliver its cloud gaming service with low latency and stable performance for users in supported regions. [27]

Clients are available via web browsers and dedicated applications on desktop and mobile, including Windows, macOS, and Android, as well as on Android TV/Google TV and select smart TVs. [28] On supported TVs, the Boosteroid app allows users to play PC games directly without a console. [29] Input is supported via keyboards and mice on desktop, and via compatible Bluetooth or USB gamepads on mobile and TV devices; TVs generally require a supported controller for gameplay. [30]

Boosteroid employs adaptive bitrate streaming that adjusts quality based on available bandwidth and network conditions. [31]

In May 2025, Boosteroid announced the rollout of support for the cutting-edge AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) codec, [32] [33] enabling higher visual quality at lower bitrates on compatible devices. [32]

The company publishes network guidelines for stable broadband connectivity and latency targets, [34] and the service can scale  maximum frame rate. [35]

Content access is based on users’ existing PC game libraries. [35] Boosteroid connects to accounts from major digital distribution platforms, such as Steam and the Epic Games Store to launch supported titles from the cloud without local downloads or updates. [7] [36]

In March 2023, Microsoft and Boosteroid announced a 10-year agreement to bring Xbox PC games to the service, expanding the catalog to select first-party titles subject to publisher permissions and regional availability. [17]
