The band met and formed in 1994 as students of the Rhode Island School of Design. Lightning Bolt were listed 8th in Metacritic's Artists of the Decade 2000–09.

The Make-Up was a Washington, D.C. based band formed in 1995, consisting of Ian Svenonius, James Canty, Steve Gamboa, Michelle Mae, and for a brief period Alex Minoff. During the Make-Up's five years of activity, they released four studio albums, two live albums, a compilation of singles and B-sides, and a number of singles and splits. A posthumous live album was also released in 2006. The band was also the subject of the short film Blue is Beautiful by James Schneider, later repackaged as part of In Film/On Video in 2006.

Super Roots 10 / Ant 10 is the ninth installment of the Super Roots series of releases by Japanese experimental band Boredoms. The CD of the full version was released in Japan on January 28, 2009. On August 5, 2009, two 12" singles were released from this in Japan: Ant 10 Vol. 1 and Ant 10 Vol. 2. The American releases on Thrill Jockey were a double 12" single with enclosed 24" x 24" poster, which is now out of print, and MP3 downloads.
