The Featherweight class in the boxing at the 1964 Summer Olympics competition was the third-lightest class. Featherweights were limited to those boxers weighing less than 57 kilograms. The competition was held from 13 and 23 October 1964 at Korakuen Ice Palace. [1] 32 boxers from 32 nations competed. [2]
Stanislav Stepashkin from the Soviet Union won the gold medal after defeating Filipino Anthony Villanueva in the final bout, who won the silver medal. The losing semifinalists, Charles Brown from the United States and Heinz Schulz representing the United Team of Germany, both received bronze medals.
In his first round bout, Spanish boxer Valentín Loren punched a Hungarian referee in the face after being disqualified; he was banned for life from international competition. [3]

At the 1904 Summer Olympics, seven boxing events were contested, with the sport making its Olympic debut. The competitions were held on Wednesday, September 21, 1904 and on Thursday, September 22, 1904. Contestants in lighter weight classes could also compete in heavier classes. Oliver Kirk, winning the bantamweight and featherweight categories, thus became the only boxer to have won two gold medals in the same Olympics. George Finnegan, Harry Spanjer and Charles Mayer won one gold and one silver medal.
The featherweight boxing competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens was held from 16 to 28 August at Peristeri Olympic Boxing Hall. This is limited to those boxers weighing between 54 and 57 kilograms.
The featherweight was one of five boxing weight classes contested on the boxing at the 1908 Summer Olympics programme. Like all other boxing events, it was open only to men. The boxing competitions were held on October 27. The featherweight was the second-lightest class, allowing boxers of up to 126 pounds (57.2 kg). Eight boxers from two nations competed. Each NOC could enter up to 12 boxers. France entered 5 boxers, 3 of whom withdrew; Great Britain entered 8 boxers, 2 of whom withdrew.
Anthony N. Villanueva was a boxer from the Philippines. He competed in the featherweight division at the 1964 Olympics and won a silver medal. Shortly after the Olympics he turned professional, but retired after five bouts. Besides boxing, Villanueva worked as an actor and boxing coach in the Philippines and as a security guard in the United States. He died after suffering several strokes.
The featherweight class in the boxing at the 1996 Summer Olympics competition was the fourth-lightest class at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. The competition in the Alexander Memorial Coliseum started on 1996-07-20 and ended on 1996-08-04. There was significant controversy surrounding judging of the fight between 19-year-old Floyd Mayweather of the United States and 27-year-old two-time Olympian Serafim Todorov of Bulgaria, with Todorov being awarded the semi-final bout which, according to many observers, was won by Mayweather. The U.S. team filed a protest over the Mayweather bout, claiming the judges were intimidated by Bulgaria's Emil Jetchev into favoring the Bulgarian Todorov, but it was rejected.
Thomas Patrick Donovan was a New Zealand amateur boxer and rugby union player. He represented his country in boxing at the 1956 and 1964 Olympic Games, and won bronze medals at the 1958 and 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. He also played representative rugby for Hawke's Bay.
The men's featherweight boxing competition at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney was held from 18 September to 1 October at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. Bekzat Sattarkhanov of Kazakhstan claimed the featherweight title. Three months later, he was killed in a car accident.
Nesthy Alcayde Petecio is a Filipino amateur boxer. She won a silver medal in the inaugural women's featherweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming the first Filipino woman to win an Olympic medal in boxing. She also won a silver medal at the 2014 World Championships and gold at the 2019 edition.
The Featherweight class in the boxing competition was the fourth-lowest weight class. Featherweights were limited to those boxers weighing a maximum of 57 kilograms (125.7 lbs). The event took place between 15 and 26 October 1968 at Arena México.
Skye Brittany Nicolson is an Australian professional boxer. As an amateur, she competed in the featherweight event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal. Nicolson competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. In her first bout in the women's Feather (54–57 kg) preliminaries she beat Im Ae-ji from Republic of Korea on points. She was beaten in the quarterfinals by Kariss Artingstall from Great Britain.

Albert Khanbulatovich Batyrgaziyev is a Russian professional boxer who won a gold medal in the featherweight division at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He is of Nogai origin.
