Brad Anae (born October 3, 1957) is a former American football defensive end who played three seasons in the United States Football League (USFL) with the Philadelphia Stars, Houston Gamblers, and San Antonio Gunslingers. He first enrolled at the University of Hawaii before transferring to the Brigham Young University. He attended Kahuku High & Intermediate School in Kahuku, Hawaii. [1]
Anae played high school football for the Kahuku High School Red Raiders. He was named to state all-star teams and was team captain while the Red Raiders' record during his three varsity years was 21–10. [1]
Anae first played college football in 1976 for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors of the University of Hawaii. [1] He transferred to play for the BYU Cougars, He was a two-year starter for the Cougars, earning All-WAC honors in 1980 and 1981. Anae also earned third team All-American honors in 1981, starting in the Holiday Bowl, and honorable mention All-American honors in 1980. [2]
Anae signed with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League in 1982. [2] He joined the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL late in 1982 and played in three games for the team in 1983. [2] He played for the USFL's Houston Gamblers in 1984. [2] Anae was signed by the San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL on November 23, 1984. He played in eight games for the Gunslingers, starting five. [2]
Anae's father, Famika, and brothers Robert and Matt also played for the BYU Cougars. Robert's son, Famika, was an offensive lineman for the Cougars before ending his career due to injures in 2012. [3] Anae's son, Bradlee, is a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys.
The United States Football League (USFL) was a professional American football league that played for three seasons, 1983 through 1985. The league played a spring/summer schedule in each of its active seasons. The 1986 season was scheduled to be played in the autumn/winter, directly competing against the long-established National Football League (NFL). However, the USFL ceased operations before that season was scheduled to begin.

A late-round pick in the 1992 NFL draft, Detmer played for six NFL teams over 14 seasons, mostly in a backup role. He is currently the head Athletic Director American Leadership–Gilbert North Eagles.

Miki "Junior" Ah You is an American Samoan former professional football player who played primarily at the defensive end position. Ah You enjoyed most of his professional career success with the Canadian Football League (CFL) Montreal Alouettes, from 1972 to 1981, and was a former collegiate standout at Arizona State University. Ah You's jersey #77 is one of ten retired by the Alouettes, and he was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1997. Ah You is also a member of the Arizona State Sports Hall of Fame and the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame. In 2006, Ah You was voted to the Honour Roll of the CFL's Top 50 players of the league's modern era by Canadian sports network TSN.
Christopher Kealoha Naeole is an American former professional football player who was an offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Colorado Buffaloes, earning All-American honors in 1996. He was selected 10th overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 1997 NFL draft. Naeole also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars. After his playing career, he became a high school football coach by 2010, later serving as the offensive line coach for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

The Cougars, led by head coach Bronco Mendenhall, played their home games at LaVell Edwards Stadium. This was the third year BYU competed as an independent. They finished the season 8–5. They were invited to the Fight Hunger Bowl where they lost to Washington, 31–16.
