Brad Rowswell (born 1986) is an Australian politician and the current Shadow Treasurer of Victoria. He has been a Liberal Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since November 2018,representing the seat of Sandringham.
He was for a time the Shadow Assistant Minister to the Leader of the Opposition and Secretary to the Shadow Cabinet;however,he was removed from this role on Matthew Guy's return to the Liberal Party leadership in September 2021. [1] [2]
Rowswell was born at the Sandringham Hospital and grew up in the suburb of Beaumaris. [3] He was educated at St Bede's College in Mentone. Rowswell once studied to be a Catholic priest. [4]
Prior to his election to parliament,Rowswell worked as a political advisor and a communications manager for the defense contractor Raytheon. [5] [6]
Rowswell was preselected as the Liberal candidate for the seat of Sandringham in 2018 over former councillor Felicity Frederico. [7] He suffered a 9.5% swing against him,but won the election by slightly over 500 votes. [5] While campaigning in 2017,a fundraiser for his campaign included former tennis player and anti-LGBT campaigner Margaret Court. [8] [9]
Rowswell was appointed Shadow Minister for Energy in March 2021 by Michael O'Brien. When O'Brien was subject to a leadership spill and replaced by Matthew Guy in September 2021 Rowswell was removed from the shadow cabinet. [10]
Rowswell was re-elected at the 2022 Victorian state election. [11] After the election he ran in the 2022 Victorian Liberal Party deputy leadership election,losing to David Southwick,and was subsequently appointed Shadow Treasurer. Rowswell voted to expel Moira Deeming from the parliamentary Liberal Party in May 2023. [12]
David McLean Davis is an Australian politician. Murray Hamilton Ross Thompson is a former member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. He was the member for Sandringham in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1992 until his retirement in 2018. He is the son of former Liberal Premier of Victoria Lindsay Thompson.

She was a Liberal Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2018,representing the electorate of Brighton;she previously served in the Victorian Legislative Council from 1992 to 1999 as member for Monash Province. Matthew Jason Guy is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal Party member of the Parliament of Victoria since 2006,representing the Northern Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council (2006–2014) and Bulleen in the Legislative Assembly (2014–present). He was Leader of the Opposition in Victoria and state leader of the Liberal Party from 2014 to 2018,when he resigned the leadership after the Liberal Party's landslide defeat in the 2018 Victorian election. The Shadow Ministry of Matthew Guy was the Coalition opposition,opposing the Andrews government in the Parliament of Victoria,Australia. Matthew Guy held the position of opposition leader twice,first from 4 December 2014 until 6 December 2018,following his loss in the 2018 Victorian state election,and then again from 7 September 2021 until 8 December 2022 when he defeated his successor,Michael O'Brien in a leadership spill. The shadow cabinet was made up of the caucuses from the Liberal Party and Nationals.
The 2021 Liberal Party of Australia leadership spills were two spill motions on 16 March and 7 September 2021 against the leader of the Victorian branch of the Liberal Party and Leader of the Opposition Michael O'Brien,who had held these roles since December 2018. The September spill motion was successful and resulted in a ballot to elect the new party leader and deputy party leader on the same day. Former leader,Matthew Guy,was elected unopposed as the party leader and Leader of the Opposition. Caulfield MP David Southwick defeated Louise Staley in the Deputy Leadership contest and was elected Deputy Leader,replacing Cindy McLeish who had been elected alongside O'Brien in 2018.
The 2022 Liberal Party of Australia leadership election was an election to appoint the leader of the Victorian branch of the Liberal Party and Leader of the Opposition after the 2022 Victorian state election. Matthew Guy,who had held these roles since September 2021 and previously in 2018 resigned after the Coalition's defeat to the Australian Labor Party at the November election.
