Braden Huff is an American college basketball player for the Gonzaga Bulldogs of the West Coast Conference (WCC).
Huff attended high school at Glenbard West. In his senior season, Huff averaged 17.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 2.8 assists per game. [1] During Huff's high school career he He led Glenbard West High School to a state title and won the Illinois Mr. Basketball. [2] Coming out of high school, Huff was rated as a four star recruit, the 33rd overall forward, and the 4th ranked prospect in the state of Illinois for the 2022 recruiting class. [3] Huff also held offers from schools such as Gonzaga, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa, Illinois, Creighton, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin. [4] Ultimately, Huff decided to commit to play college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. [5] [6]
In Huff's first season during the 2022–23 season, Huff decided to use the season to redshirt and did not appear in any games. [7]
In Huff's first career game in Gonzaga's season opener, Huff came off the bench to score 19 points and grab nine rebounds as he helped the Bulldogs come back from a double digit deficit to defeat Yale. [8] On January 20, 2024, Huff scored a career high 26 points in a win over San Diego. [9] Against Portland, Huff dropped 25 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds and making three assists. [10] Coming off, Huff's performance versus Portland, during a road win versus the Kentucky Wildcats, Huff helped contribute to the win scoring 12 points. [11] For his performance during the regular season, Huff was named to the WCC all freshman team. [12] During the second round of the 2023–24 NCAA tournament, Huff scored eleven points in a win over Kansas. [13]

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are an intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Gonzaga University. The school competes in the West Coast Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Gonzaga Bulldogs play home basketball games at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington, on the university campus.
The West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year is an award given to the most outstanding men's basketball player in the West Coast Conference (WCC). The award was first given following the conference's inaugural 1952–53 season, when it was known as the California Basketball Association. The only season in which the award was not presented was the conference's second season of 1953–54. There have been six ties in the award's history, most recently in 2022–23 between Brandin Podziemski of Santa Clara and Drew Timme of Gonzaga. There have also been 13 repeat winners, but only one, Bill Cartwright of San Francisco, has been player of the year three times.
