Brandon Biro (born March 11, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger currently signed to the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played collegiately at Penn State.
Biro played two seasons with the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, winning the league's Rookie of the Year award in the 2014–15 season. [1]
Biro played four seasons for the Penn State Nittany Lions. At the end of his collegiate career, he was eighth all-time for Penn State in goals (41), third all-time in assists (75), and fourth all-time in points (116). [1]
On March 18, 2020, Biro was signed by the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League as an undrafted free agent. [2] He made his professional debut with Buffalo's AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, on February 12, 2021. [1]
Biro made his NHL debut for the Sabres on February 23, 2022, in a game against the Montreal Canadiens. [3]
Biro was called up to the Sabres on October 30, 2023. [4] In his first game after the call up, Biro scored his first NHL goal in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers, as well as an empty net goal in the same game for his second career goal.
Biro left the Sabres organization after four seasons and was signed as a free agent to a one-year, $775,000 deal with the Seattle Kraken on July 1, 2024. [5]
Biro's younger brother, Jordan, plays collegiately for Colorado College. [6]
His father, Rob, played collegiate soccer at the University of Alberta. He also played one season with the Winnipeg Fury of the Canadian Soccer League. He now works for Edmonton Catholic Schools as a soccer director. [1] [7]

The Seattle Metropolitans were a professional ice hockey team based in Seattle, Washington, playing in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) from 1915 to 1924. During their nine seasons, the Metropolitans were the PCHA's most successful franchise, as they went 112–96–2 in their nine years as a franchise. The Metropolitans also won the most regular season PCHA championships, winning five times, with Seattle finishing second on three other occasions. The Metropolitans played their home games at the 2,500 seat Seattle Ice Arena located downtown at 5th and University.
Daniel Brian Bylsma is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player who currently serves as head coach of the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was previously head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL, as well as an assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings, and head coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Coachella Valley Firebirds of the American Hockey League (AHL). He also was the former head coach of the United States men's national ice hockey team. Bylsma won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2009, just four months after being promoted to Pittsburgh's head coaching position.
René Paul Robert was a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, and Colorado Rockies from 1970 to 1982. He made two All-Star appearances and was selected as the second NHL All-Star team right wing in 1974–75. He also played in the 1975 Stanley Cup Finals with the Sabres, in which he scored the game-winning goal in Game 3.
