CISM organises various sporting events, including the Military World Games and World Military Championships, for the armed forces of 140 member countries. The motto of CISM is "Friendship through Sport" and is based on three pillars of sport, education and solidarity.

Mariana dos Santos Silva is a judoka from Brazil who competes in the women's half-middleweight (-63kg). She won a bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games. That year, she also won gold at the World Military Games. In 2016, she won the Pan American Judo Championships, having won silver in 2011 and 2015, and bronze medals in 2010 and 2012. Previously, she won a bronze medal in the 2009 World Junior Championships. She has appeared at two Olympics for Brazil.

The 2019 Military World Games, officially known as the 7th CISM Military World Games and commonly known as Wuhan 2019, was held from October 18–27, 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Vittória Lopes is a Brazilian triathlete. In 2019, she won the silver medal in the women's triathlon at the 2019 Pan American Games. She also won the gold medal in the mixed relay event together with Luisa Baptista, Kaue Willy and Manoel Messias.
