Brenda Shinn (born January 1, 1962 in Redondo Beach, California) is an American sport shooter. [2] She won the gold medal for the women's air pistol at the 2009 USA Shooting National Championships in Fort Benning, Georgia, and achieved a seventh-place finish in the same category at the 2010 Championships of the Americas (CAT Games) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Shooting career

Shinn started out her sporting career at the age of seventeen, while learning shooting at the Orange County Sheriff’s Explorer program. She won the 1980 National Police Explorer Pistol Match, and had an invitation to train at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she switched from competing in the two-handed .38 category to the air pistol. In 1982, Shinn placed eleventh for her category at the USA Shooting National Championships, and eventually joined the Orange County Sheriff's Department Pistol Team, where she shot for three years as a distinguished master. Shinn stopped competitive shooting in 1987, when she gave birth to her only son K.C. [4]

Following her son's birth, Shinn worked full-time as a lieutenant with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at Jurupa Valley Patrol Station. [4] She also graduated from Chapman University in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, and again in 2002 with a master's degree in organizational leadership.

Shinn returned to competitive shooting in 2006, when her son K.C. attended the California State University in San Bernardino, California. [4] [5] Since then, she had won numerous medals in shooting competitions, including the bronze for the air pistol at the 2007 USA Shooting National Championships. [6]

Shinn qualified for the women's 10 m air pistol, as a 46-year-old, at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by placing second from the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Fort Benning, Georgia, behind Beki Snyder. [7] She finished only in thirty-seventh place by two points behind Japan's Michiko Fukushima from the final attempt, for a total score of 373 targets. [8]

The Women's 10 metre air pistol event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on August 10 at the Beijing Shooting Range Hall. Natalia Paderina of Russia set a new Olympic record in the qualification round with 391 points out of 400, but entering the final Guo Wenjun was only one point behind and through the last ten shots emerged as the winner. After the competition, Paderina (silver) and Georgian veteran Nino Salukvadze (bronze) posed together, showing the world that their friendship was unaffected by the newly broken-out war in South Ossetia, which only a day earlier had threatened Salukvadze's participation in the Olympics; Salukvadze took the opportunity to take a stand for a peaceful solution.

She also captured a total of 26 medals, and set a world record of 493 points at the ISSF World Cup.

Yuliya Nikolayevna Alipova is a Belarusian-born Russian sport shooter. She is a four-time Olympian and a two-time medalist for the 10 and 25 m pistol events at the 1995 ISSF World Cup in Seoul, South Korea. Alipava is also the wife of Alexey Alipov, who won the gold medal in men's trap shooting at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Brian Beaman is an American sport shooter. In 2011, Beaman had won a bronze medal for the men's 10 m air pistol at the ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, Georgia, with a score of 686.6 points.

Emily Caruso is an American sport shooter. She is a two-time Olympian and a gold medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico and was a resident athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Manu Bhaker is an Indian professional sport shooter. She represented India at the 2018 ISSF World Cup and won two gold medals. She is the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup. She won the gold medal in women's 10 m air pistol event at 2018 Commonwealth Games just at the age of 16 in her maiden Commonwealth Games appearance.

Ji Xiaojing is a Chinese female sport shooter. She mainly competes in ISSF 10m air pistol event at international shooting competitions. She represented China at the 2018 Asian Games and claimed her first Asian Games medal, gold in the AP60 mixed team event along with Wu Jiayu.
