Brian Odom (born July 2, 1981) is an American football coach who is the linebackers coach for the North Texas Mean Green. He was previously the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the USC Trojans from 2021 to 2023.
Odom played at Ada High School in Ada, Oklahoma, where he was Oklahoma's High School Player of the Year in 1999 as a running back. [1]
He first played college football at Oklahoma for two seasons where he was redshirted during the 2000 season when the team became national champions. He lettered in 2001 playing primarily on special teams.
He would transfer to play at Southeastern Oklahoma State where he was a three year starting tailback from 2002 to 2004. He earned the first team all-Lone Star Conference honor as a senior in 2004 and would graduate and earn his bachelor degree that same year.
Odom started his coaching career as an administrative and defensive graduate assistant for Missouri in the first half of 2005. [2]
He then spent seven years as the assistant director of performance enhancement for Arizona from 2005 to 2006 and as an associate director of performance enhancement from 2007 to 2011. [3]
He spent three years as the co-director of sports performance at Houston from 2012 to 2014. [4]
He was a defensive quality control assistant at Washington State from 2015 to 2016. [5]
On February 3, 2017, Odom returned to Missouri and was hired as the outside linebackers coach. [6] He spent two years in that position from 2017 to 2018.
On January 16, 2019, Odom was hired as the inside linebackers coach at Oklahoma. [7] He spent three years in this position from 2019 to 2021 and also served as the interim defensive coordinator at the end of 2021.
On January 10, 2022, Odom was hired as the inside linebackers coach and associate head coach for defense at USC as part of Lincoln Riley's new coaching staff. [8] He served these positions from 2022 to 2023. He also served as the interim co-defensive coordinator for three games in 2023.
On February 20, 2024, Odom was named as the linebackers coach at North Texas. [9]
On November 16, 2024, Odom was named interim defensive coordinator for the North Texas Mean Green, upon the firing of Matt Caponi. [10]
Odom is the younger brother of current UNLV head coach, Barry Odom. [11]
Gary Brent Darnell is an American former college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Tennessee Technological University from 1983 to 1985 and Western Michigan University from 1997 to 2004 and was interim head football coach at the University of Florida for seven games in 1989 and at Texas A&M University for one game in 2007, compiling a career head coaching record of 52–80. Darnell had stints at a defensive coordinator at Kansas State University, Wake Forest University, Florida, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M.
Joe Kines is a former American football player and coach. He spent most of his coaching career as an assistant in college football ranks, and twice serving as an interim head coach: in 1992 at the University of Arkansas after the firing of Jack Crowe after Arkansas's first game, and in 2006 at the University of Alabama after the dismissal of Mike Shula.
Reginald Wayne Herring is an American football coach and former player and most recently the linebackers coach for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). A former linebacker at Florida State University, he began his coaching career in 1981. He has now coached for 36 years across college and the NFL. Herring arrived in Denver to coach linebackers in 2015 after previous stops in the league with Chicago (2014), Houston and Dallas (2008–10). Herring has coached nine linebackers who have made Pro Bowl appearances during their careers, including outside linebackers DeMarcus Ware (9), Mario Williams (4), and Connor Barwin (1), and inside linebackers Zach Thomas (7), Keith Brooking (5), Lance Briggs (7), Brian Cushing (1), Sean Lee (2) and DeMeco Ryans (2). Herring also served as the interim head football coach for the University of Arkansas in the 2008 Cotton Bowl Classic.
Frank Bush is a former American football linebacker and coach who is the linebackers coach for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the fifth round of the 1985 NFL draft. He played college football at North Carolina State.
Scott Gregory Hazelton is an American football coach who is currently a special assistant to the head coach at the University of Texas at Austin. He was previously the defensive coordinator at Michigan State University. Hazelton was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Kansas State University in 2019 before moving to Michigan State. He was also the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Wyoming in 2017 and 2018 where he led nationally ranked defenses in both seasons, linebackers coach at USC in 2012 and the defensive coordinator of the 2011 FCS National Champions, North Dakota State Bison. Hazelton was tutored as a defensive coach under the guidance of then North Dakota State head coach and current Buffalo Bills assistant Bob Babich and Gus Bradley who is a former head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, former Bison assistant coach, and is currently the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers.
The 2015 Washington State Cougars football team represented Washington State University during the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by fourth-year head coach Mike Leach and played their home games at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington. They were members of the North Division of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 6–3 in Pac-12 play to finish in third place in the North Division. They were invited to the Sun Bowl where they defeated the Miami Hurricanes.
Barry Stephen Odom is an American football coach and currently the head coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Odom previously spent 15 years with the University of Missouri football program as a player, recruiter, assistant coach, and head coach.
James Seth Littrell is an American football coach and former player who was most recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Oklahoma before parting ways with the university on October 20, 2024. He was the head coach at the University of North Texas from 2016 to 2022.
Alexander Gregory Grinch is an American football coach who is currently the safeties coach for the Wisconsin Badgers. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Southern California (USC), the University of Oklahoma, Ohio State University and Washington State University. Grinch is a four-time nominee for the Broyles Award and was a semifinalist in 2017 and 2019.
