The Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) is an Australian horse racing organization based in Brisbane in the state of Queensland. [1] The head office of the club is located at 230 Lancaster Road in Ascot. [2]
The Brisbane Racing Club was founded on 1 July 2009 by a merger of the Queensland Turf Club and the Brisbane Turf Club (BTC). [1] The club conducted 98 race meetings in 2012. [1] The consolidation of the race clubs was the first of its kind in Australia [2] as later other metropolitan race clubs would follow their initiative. [3]
The courses operated by the BRC are Eagle Farm Racecourse and Doomben Racecourse. [1]
The highlight on the Brisbane Racing Clubs racing calendar is the Brisbane Racing Carnival, run across five consecutive Saturdays in May and June. [1] The highlights include the Doomben 10,000 and the AAMI Stradbroke Handicap. [1]

Thoroughbred horse racing is a spectator sport in Australia, and gambling on horse races is a very popular pastime with A$14.3 billion wagered in 2009/10 with bookmakers and the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB). The two forms of Thoroughbred horseracing in Australia are flat racing, and races over fences or hurdles in Victoria and South Australia. Doomben Racecourse is a horse racing venue in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is located in the suburb of Ascot, 7 kilometres north of the Brisbane central business district. The Doomben course neighbours another thoroughbred venue called the Eagle Farm Racecourse and can be accessed via car, train or bus. Together with Eagle Farm, these courses are considered the two major racecourses in South East Queensland, and can be seen sharing irrigation systems and some of Brisbane Racings feature events.

Eagle Farm Racecourse and Ascot Railway station is a heritage-listed pair of racecourse and railway station at 230 Lancaster Road, Ascot, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1863 onwards. The racecourse is also known as Ascot Racecourse and Brisbane Racecourse, and Ascot railway station was previously known as Racecourse railway station. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 25 June 2004.
