Babu Brish Bhan was a freedom fighter and the last Chief Minister and one and only deputy chief minister of PEPSU. [2]
He completed his law from Law College Lahore in 1932. In 1951 and then in 1954 he became the deputy chief minister under the chief ministership of Raghbir Singh. After the death of Raghbir Singh he became the Chief Minister in 1955.
After the merger of PEPSU with Punjab State on 1 November 1956 following the States Reorganisation Act. [3] He became the member of Punjab Legislative Assembly in 1962 from Sunam Assembly Constituency and then in 1967 from Lehra Assembly Constituency.
He died on 29 April 1988 and the Babu Brish Bhan DAV School at Moonak in Sangrur district is named after him. [4]
The Patiala and East Punjab States Union was a state of India,uniting eight princely states between 1948 and 1956. The capital and principal city was Patiala. The state covered an area of 26,208 km². Shimla,Kasauli,Kandaghat and Chail also became part of the PEPSU.

Sardar Hukam Singh was an Indian politician and the third Speaker of the Lok Sabha and second Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1962 to 1967. He was also governor of Rajasthan from 1967 to 1972.
Gurnam Singh was an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Punjab from 8 March 1967 to 25 November 1967,and again between 17 February 1969 to 27 March 1970. He was the first Shiromani Akali Dal Chief minister of Punjab. His ministry fell due to defection of Lachhman Singh Gill,who became the next Chief Minister with the support of the Indian National Congress. He died in an air crash in Delhi on 31 May 1973.
Sant Harchand Singh Longowal was the President of the Akali Dal during the Punjab insurgency of the 1980s. He had signed the Punjab accord,also known as the Rajiv-Longowal Accord along with Rajiv Gandhi on 24 July 1985. The government accepted most of the demands of Akali Dal who in turn agreed to withdraw their agitation. Less than a month after signing the Punjab accord,Sant Longowal was assassinated by Two Assassins-Gyan Singh Leel &Jarnail Singh Halvara(both Sikhs),who fired bullets from a point-blank range at Longowal. They supposedly opposed him,for offering a peaceful solution.
Raja Rao Birender Singh was a King of erstwhile state of Haryana and an Indian politician. He served first as a minister in the state government of Punjab and then as Chief Minister of Haryana from 24 March 1967 - 2 November 1967,and also served as a minister in Punjab state,Haryana state and the Union cabinet. He also served as the second speaker of Haryana state assembly in 1967. He coined an Indian political vocabulary Aya Ram,Gaya Ram to describe the practice of frequently floor-crossing by legislature.
