Brothers is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Max Barbakow with a screenplay by Macon Blair from a story by Etan Cohen. The film stars Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage as the titular siblings and is produced by Legendary Pictures.
The film is scheduled to be released in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios in select theaters on October 11, 2024 before debuting on Amazon Prime Video on October 17, 2024.
On February 28, 2019, it was announced that Legendary Entertainment had purchased the project in a competitive bidding war, with Etan Cohen set to write the screenplay. Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage were attached to star in the film as well as produce alongside Andrew Lazar. The film was said to be tonally in the vein of Twins (1988), which centred on two unlikely twins played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. [1]
Macon Blair was later attached to direct the film and co-write the script with Cohen on April 30, 2020. [2]
On June 3, 2021, Glenn Close joined the main cast, with Max Barbakow directing. [3] Two months later, Brendan Fraser and Taylour Paige were added to the main cast. [4] [5]
Principal photography took place in November 2021 in Atlanta. [4]
On March 7, 2022, the final writing was revealed; Blair received screenplay credit, and Cohen received story credit, while Barbakow and Mike Rosolio have additional literary material credits off-screen. [6]
In October 2023, Amazon MGM Studios acquired distribution rights to the film. [7] The film is scheduled to be released in select theaters in the United States on October 11, 2024 before debuting on Amazon Prime Video on October 17, 2024. [8] [9]

Peter Dinklage is an American actor and producer. He studied acting at the Bennington College where he starred in a number of amateur stage productions. He made his film debut in the 1995 comedy-drama Living in Oblivion. After appearing in a series of supporting parts in much of the 1990s and early 2000s, he made his breakthrough by starring in the Tom McCarthy-directed comedy-drama The Station Agent (2003), which had him play a railroad-obsessed introvert who inherits an abandoned train depot. He was cast in the role by director Tom McCarthy who recalled fondly his appearance in McCarthy's play The Killing Act (1995). For his performance, he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Best Actor and an Independent Spirit Awards nomination for Best Male Lead. In the same year, Dinklage played the title role in the play Richard III at The Public Theater. He also played a children's book author in the comedy Elf.
