Bruce Samazan (born 13 November 1970) is an Australian actor and briefly vocalist who appeared in several soap operas and drama series on Australian television and is the only male actor to have played regular roles in Australia's "Big Three" soap operas of the 1990s: E Street , Neighbours , and Home and Away. Samazan was a brickie's labourer [1] until 1989 when he accompanied his girlfriend to an audition for a part in the Network Ten soap E Street . The series had debuted six months earlier to a lukewarm reception from audience and critics alike, and a major cast and crew re-shuffle was imminent. His girlfriend didn't get the part, but the casting director liked Bruce so much they offered him the part of a new character called Max Simmons, a new recruit at the community police station. Introduced early in Season 2, his role was primarily comic relief, but with the addition of ruthless killer Sonny Bennett to proceedings, E Street's storylines grew darker and the character of Max became more central and balanced. By 1992, Samazan was at the height of his fame, and won the 1992 Silver Logie as the Most Popular Actor on Australian television.
By the beginning of 1993, E Street's popularity had dwindled and the producers became more and more desperate to lure viewers. This resulted in one of the soap's more outrageous plots which involved Samazan's character Max turning into a werewolf. Although this scene was part of a dream sequence, it was at this point that the tabloid media began to speculate that E Street had "jumped the shark", and the series was cancelled in May 1993. [2] Bruce stayed with the show until the final episode where his character fell in love with Bonnie Tate (Melissa Bell) who awoke from a coma just in time to see the final credits sequence.
In mid-1993, Samazan released a rap music single under the pseudonym B-Man Samazan on the Westside Records label called "One of a Kind", and filmed a music video for the song with Kellie Crawford from Teen Queens (and later of Hi-5 fame). [2] The song peaked at No. 80 on the ARIA Charts in June 1993. [3] Samazan's Neighbours co-star Scott Michaelson went on record during a 2003 court case saying Samazan had been lucky his song did not get too much airplay because it was "particularly bad". [4]
After the demise of E Street, Bruce was immediately cast in Network Ten's other major soap series, Neighbours . He played Mark Gottlieb, brother of established character Stephen.
From Neighbours, he went straight into the Seven Network's Home and Away for a six-month guest stint as the psychotic Brad Cooper who raped Chloe Richards. He had previously guested on the serial as Mick in 1989 for four episodes.
Samazan returned to Neighbours in 2020, reprising his role as Mark Gottlieb for the show's 35th anniversary.
After giving up acting in 2000, Samazan worked as a real estate agent in Wollongong for four years. He has worked for Real Estate Australia as a sales consultant. He reportedly spent four years at PRDnationwide Helensburgh finishing up in 2006.[ citation needed ]
He made a part-time return to acting, appearing in guest roles in Big Sky and Head Start .
Samazan Pty Ltd, a company registered in 1991 which was directed by Bruce Samazan, [5] was deregistered in late 2008. [6]

It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. The role initially required Samazan to put on a French accent, which he based on his own father's. In order to distinguish Mark from his E Street character Max Simmons, Samazan got a Caesar cut and Mark had a trendy European wardrobe.

Stephen is characterised as a compassionate record store manager. He was introduced into the series as a love interest of Phoebe Bright. Writers created a rushed romance between the pair. Phoebe was mourning her dead boyfriend Todd Landers and pregnant with his child. Despite this the characters were married and cohabiting after two months. Hill was spotted by the serial's casting director in a café, while she was on a break from filming another show. She was told to audition for the role, as she looked exactly how the producers had imagined Serendipity to look. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 25 August 1994. Serendipity was introduced as the sister of Mark Gottlieb. Having been raised in a hippy commune, Serendipity retains her beliefs and is a "real bohemian". She moves in with Mark after returning to Australia from Amsterdam, where she worked as a nanny. During her time in the show she becomes good friends with Sam Kratz and Annalise Hartman, is almost beaten up by her boyfriend, becomes a designer and gets engaged to Luke Handley. Joanna Evans is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Emma Harrison. Joanna was introduced as the younger half-sister of established character, Annalise Hartman. She made her first on screen appearance on 26 May 1995. Following Davies' departure from Neighbours in 1996, rumours began that Harrison's character would be written out of the show. However, the actress signed a new long-term contract with Neighbours a few months later. In February 1997, producers decided to write Joanna out of the show. A reporter for the Daily Mirror said Harrison was written out due to rows with the producers over her poor acting. Joanna departed on screen on 15 April 1997. In 2005, Harrison was invited to return to Neighbours for the 20th anniversary episode, but she did not appear.
Neighbours is a long-running Australian television soap opera created by television executive Reg Watson. Richard Huggett is an Australian film, television and theatre actor. After graduating from NIDA in 1988, Huggett guested in an episode of Home and Away, before he was cast as villain Sonny Bennett in E Street. Huggett's character killed four of the show's regulars, before taking his own life, bringing in strong ratings for the soap. Huggett went on to win the Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 1991 for his portrayal of Sonny. Huggett next played Glen Donnelly in another soap Neighbours from 1990 until 1992. He only stayed for a year, as he wanted more to pursue more demanding roles. In 1994, Huggett joined short-lived soap Paradise Beach as Sam Dexter and police drama Blue Heelers as supporting character Sean Neale. He has also made guest appearances in various television shows, including Col'n Carpenter, All Saints and Out of the Blue. He appeared in the Australian film Aiyai: Wrathful Soul in 2020 and re-joined the cast of Neighbours as Glen in 2021. In addition to his television and film work, Huggett has also appeared in a number of theatre productions.
