Brunei and Cambodia established diplomatic relations in 1992. Brunei has an embassy in Phnom Penh, and Cambodia has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. [1] Both countries co-operate in trade, education and defence. [1]

History

Relations between the two countries has been established since 9 June 1992. [1] In 2012, His Majesty The Sultan of Brunei attended the 21st ASEAN Summit which been held in Phnom Penh while Prime Minister Hun Sen attended the Royal Wedding of the daughter of Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah in the same year. [1]

Economic relations

Currently, both countries have a good diplomatic relations and the President of the Cambodia's National Assembly Heng Samrin has urged Brunei to look into Cambodia's potential for trade and investment co-operation. [2] In tourism, approximately 560 Bruneians has visited Cambodia in 2012. [2] Brunei also support the development of Cambodia. [3] Both countries has signed an agreement on the rice imported in which Cambodian would export a high quality rice to Brunei. [4] Many Bruneians tourists and investors has interested to travel and doing business in Cambodia due to the peace and political stability on Cambodia in the present. [4]

Security relations

There is also a co-operation between the Royal Brunei Navy and Royal Cambodian Navy in security with both countries exchange views on the current development in the bilateral defence relations. [5] [6] Brunei also assisting Cambodia in the English Language Courses which offered by the Brunei Darussalam's Ministry of Defence to the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Cambodia has participated on the Brunei International Shooting Skills Arms Meet (BISAM) and the ASEAN Armies Rifles' Meeting (AARM). Foreign relations of Brunei

Brunei joined ASEAN on 7 January 1984, one week after resuming full independence, and gives its ASEAN membership the highest priority in its foreign relations. Brunei joined the United Nations in September 1984. It is also a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the Commonwealth of Nations. Brunei hosted the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November 2000. In 2005 it attended the inaugural East Asia Summit.

Foreign relations of Cambodia

The Cambodian government has diplomatic relations with most countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, as well as all of its Asian neighbors, including China, India, Vietnam, Laos, South Korea, and Thailand. The government is a member of most major international organizations, including the United Nations and its specialized agencies such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The government is an Asian Development Bank (ADB) member, a member of ASEAN, and of the WTO. In 2005 Cambodia attended the inaugural East Asia Summit. The government is also a member of the Pacific Alliance and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

Foreign relations of Malaysia

Malaysia is an active member of various international organisations, including the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement. It has also in recent times been an active proponent of regional co-operation.

The foreign relations of Thailand are handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Brunei–Pakistan relations Bilateral relations

The diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Brunei is very warm and friendly, primarily because both are Muslim countries and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. As the two countries are fellow members of the Commonwealth, Pakistan maintains a High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan, and Brunei has a High Commission in Islamabad. To further foster ties between the two countries, the Brunei-Pakistan Friendship Association (BPFA) was created in 2008.

Brunei–Indonesia relations Bilateral relations

Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1984. Since then, both country enjoys warm and friendly relations. Brunei has an embassy in Jakarta, while Indonesia has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. Indonesia and Brunei only share direct land borders on the island of Borneo. Since diplomatic relations were established back in 1984, Overall relations between the two countries were progressing well and that both sides continued to enjoy strong ties in a wide spectrum of co-operations; including trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, marine and fisheries, health, defence, transnational crimes, education, youth, culture and people-to-people contacts.

Brunei–Philippines relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and the Philippines have formal diplomatic relations. Brunei has an embassy in Makati, Metro Manila while the Philippines has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The Embassy of the Philippines in Bandar Seri Begawan is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of the Philippines to the Sultanate of Brunei. Opened in 1984 after Brunei gained independence from the United Kingdom, it is currently located in the Diplomatic Enclave of Bandar Seri Begawan, behind the offices of the country's Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Brunei–Laos relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and Laos established diplomatic relations in 1993. Brunei has an embassy in Vientiane, and Laos has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. Both countries co-operate in trade, education and defence.

Brunei–Singapore relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and Singapore established diplomatic relations in 1984. Brunei has a high commission in Singapore, and Singapore has a high commission in Bandar Seri Begawan. Brunei and Singapore have close and friendly relations with extensive defence co-operation. Both countries are members of ASEAN and Commonwealth of Nations.

Brunei–Thailand relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and Thailand have bilateral foreign relations. Brunei has an embassy in Bangkok, and Thailand has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. The relations have always been close and cordial.

Brunei–Vietnam relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in 1992. Brunei has an embassy in Hanoi, and Vietnam has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. Relations between the two countries have always been friendly especially in political field.

Brunei–France relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and France have had diplomatic relations since 1984. Brunei has an embassy in Paris, and France has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Brunei–Germany relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1984. Brunei has an embassy in Berlin, and Germany has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Brunei–United Kingdom relations Bilateral relations

The Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have formal diplomatic relations. Brunei has a high commission in London, and United Kingdom has a high commission in Bandar Seri Begawan. Both Countries are members of the Commonwealth and share history and have a friendly and strong relationship, dating back to the 19th century.

Brunei–Japan relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between Brunei and Japan. Brunei has an embassy in Tokyo, and Japan has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Brunei–India relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and India established diplomatic relations in 1984. Brunei has a high commission in New Delhi, and India has a high commission in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Brunei–China relations Bilateral relations

Brunei and China established formal diplomatic relations in 1991. Brunei has an embassy in Beijing, and China has an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Cambodia–Spain relations Bilateral relations

Cambodia and Spain share bilateral and diplomatic relations. Cambodia does not have embassy in Spain, but the embassy in Paris is accredited for this country. There is no diplomatic delegation from Spain in Cambodia. The Spanish Embassy is located in Bangkok, Thailand.

Cambodia–Kosovo relations Bilateral relations

Cambodian–Kosovar relations are foreign relations between Cambodia and Kosovo. Formal diplomatic relations between two states are non-existent as Cambodia does not recognize Kosovo as a sovereign state.
