BugLug is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 2010.

History

BugLug formed in 2010 by Vocalist Issei, Guitarists Kazuki and Yu, and Bassist Tsubame and signed to Resistar Records. [2]

On January 1, 2010 BugLug released their first mini-album "SUPER NOVA". [3] On August 6, 2010 they released their second single "Made in Mine." which won first place on the Oricon Indie Single Ranking. [4]

In 2011 Masaumi, former member of Juliet joined the band as the drummer. [2]

In March 2013, the band released three singles "Live to Love", "BUKIMI" and "R.I.P", and in May they released their single "Civilization Kaika".

On May 7, 2016, Vocalist Issei was hospitalized for after suffering severe head injuries after falling down a flight of stairs at a restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo causing the band to postpone all later tours. [5] Issei made a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital in July. [6]

In 2019 BugLug announced that drummer Masaumi would be leaving the band. [7]

In 2020 the band announced that Yusuke would become the drummer. [8]

Name

Their name is a combination of the words "Bug" and "Luxury, which means "I want to do something flashy and fun". [2]

On May 3, 2023 BugLug released their album "i CON" [9]

Musical Style

Their music has described as "a new style of mixed rock". [10] Vocalist Issei's sweet voice and colorful performance has been described as "fresh and full of pop". [11]

Galneryus is a Japanese power metal band, formed in Osaka in 2001 by guitarist Syu and vocalist Yama-B. Originally the only official members, the two utilized several support musicians until bassist Tsui, keyboardist Yuhki, and drummer Jun-ichi officially joined for the release of their debut album in 2003. Yama-B left the group in 2008 citing musical differences, and Yu-To, who replaced Tsui in 2006, left the following year. Galneryus recruited Sho on vocals and Taka on bass, and released the album Resurrection in 2010. Jun-ichi left in 2016, and the following year the band released their highest-charting studio album, Ultimate Sacrifice, which reached number 13. In 2017, Loudwire named Galneryus one of the 10 Best Japanese Metal Bands.

Crimson Glory is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1983 in Sarasota, Florida, USA. It started in 1979 under the name Pierced Arrow, then Beowulf, before settling on Crimson Glory. The classic line-up consisted of the vocalist Midnight, guitarists Jon Drenning and Ben Jackson, bass guitarist Jeff Lords and drummer Dana Burnell. With that line-up, the band rose to international fame in the mid-1980s and was considered one of the pioneers of the American progressive metal movement, along with Queensrÿche, Dream Theater, Fates Warning and Watchtower. During its career, the band released four studio albums and one EP.

12012 is a Japanese visual kei rock band. Formed in 2003 in Osaka Prefecture, the group centers its work around the concept of "madness inside a human". 12012 is also the penal code for the possession of a dangerous weapon in California. The group sometimes performs as "Kyōki Shoji" (凶器所持), which is a translation of that offense.

The Predators is a Japanese rock supergroup formed in 2005 by vocalist and guitarist Sawao Yamanaka, bassist Yoshihito "Jiro" Wayama (Glay), and drummer Shinpei Nakayama (Straightener). In 2010, Nakayama left and was replaced by Hirotaka Takahashi (Ellegarden). Originally on their own record label Three Mountain, name chosen because all three original members have the word "yama" (mountain) in their last name, they were then on Avex Trax from 2008 until 2015, when they switched to Yamanaka's own Delicious Label. The Predators have sporadic periods of activity due to its members' commitments to their main bands.

Outrage is a Japanese thrash metal band, formed in Nagoya in 1982. They made their debut in 1987 with a lineup of Yosuke Abe on guitar, Yoshihiro Yasui on bass, Shinya Tange on drums and Naoki Hashimoto on vocals. Hashimoto left the band in 1999, but the group continued as a three piece and he returned in 2007. With a career spanning over four decades, Outrage are one of few Japanese metal bands to have never disbanded or paused activities.

Base Ball Bear is a Japanese rock band from Tokyo that made its major debut in 2006 with EMI Music Japan. Although assembled in autumn 2001, the band formally began in 2002, and started off with self-produced releases.

Deadman is a Japanese rock band founded in Nagoya in 2000. The group gained notoriety for popularizing the Nagoya kei subgenre of visual kei, which is a lot "darker" than most and focuses more on musical composition. Deadman also quickly became known for vocalist Mako's heavily melancholic lyrical themes, with the music itself touching on alternative rock in sound. The group disbanded in 2006 without explanation. Mako and guitarist Aie reunited as Deadman in 2019.

THE NOVEMBERS is a four-piece Japanese alternative rock band.
A preceding band was first formed in 2002 by Kobayashi Yusuke and Takamatsu Hirofumi. Subsequently, the preceding band disbanded in 2005, and "The Novembers" was officially formed in March 2005 with Kobayashi and Takamatsu joined first by drummer Yoshiki Ryousuke in August 2005, before its current lineup solidified in October 2005 with the arrival of Matsumoto Kengo.

indigo la End is a Japanese rock band led by vocalist and songwriter Enon Kawatani. The band released their debut extended play in 2012 with independent label Space Shower Records, and were later signed by Warner sub-label Unborde.

Kiyoe Yoshioka is a Japanese singer and vocalist. She is best known for being the lead vocalist of the band Ikimonogakari since its founding in 1999. She has also been active as a solo singer, releasing her first album Utairo in 2018. In 2022 her song "Dekoboko" was used as the first opening theme to the anime series A Couple of Cuckoos.

DIMLIM was a Japanese visual kei rock band established in 2017, currently on the label DUM LABEL with the members Sho, Retsu and Hiroshi.

Jiluka is a Japanese visual kei metal band initially formed in May 2013 but restarted in February 2015. The group are an independent band on the label DPR Japan, consisting of members Ricko, Sena, the main songwriter of the songs, Boogie and Zyean. They have released 7 albums and 6 singles so far. It was ranked at the 12 position on the JRock News's top 15 visual kei and Japanese rock artists of 2019. Jiluka is described as "Modern metal visual kei".

Kiryū (己龍) is a Japanese visual kei metal band founded in 2007 with the concept of "Japanese terror" and "painful nostalgia". Formed by vocalist Mahiro Kurosaki, guitarists Takemasa Kujō and Mitsuki Sakai, bassist Hiyori Isshiki and drummer Junji Tokai, each member is represented by a color. They have been part of the independent label B.P Records since 2009.

Shintenchi Kaibyaku Shudan: Zigzag (-真天地開闢集団-ジグザグ) is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 2015 and currently signed under Crimson label, subsidiaries of Giza Studio.
