Built Games, LLC is an independent video game developer and publisher founded in December 8, 2014 by Michael Pagano Doom, and based in Los Angeles, California.

Contents

The company gained notoriety when their first mobile game, Little Dictator, was released in February 2015. When it was initially submitted, Apple rejected it due to its controversial subject matter and the way the game poked fun at North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. [1]

History

Built Games was founded in late 2014 by Michael Pagano, a former producer and studio head at EA [2] and Zynga. [3] Pagano's former Warner Bros. colleagues Kevin McKinney and Jay Guevarra joined the company respectively as Co-founder, COO and Partner, VP Strategy in late 2015. On November 12, 2015, Built Games published Super Nitro Chimp, which was developed by C2 Game Studio. [4]

In partnership with DHX Media, Teletubbies Play Time, an app for toddlers was released on June 22, 2017 in the U.S. and Philippines, and worldwide on December 10, 2017. [5]

On October 13, 2016, Wyld Stallyns, an RPG title based on the Bill and Ted universe was announced. [6] The game released in November 2018. On June 9, 2017, to celebrate the fictional duo's favorite numeral combination, Built Games launched a "69 minutes of 69" promotion where a contest winner was selected to be included as a playable character. [7]

In partnership with Comedy Central, Broad City: High Score, a mobile game based on the show created by Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, was released worldwide on April 20, 2018. [8]

<i>Empires & Allies</i> 2011 video game

Empires & Allies was a social network game that was Zynga's first combat and strategy game. The game, the first release by Zynga's Los Angeles studio, launched in twelve languages on June 1, 2011. G4TV.com writer Jake Gaskill called the release the "biggest launch of any Zynga title to date". Empires & Allies became the fourth most popular game on Facebook within weeks after launch, reaching 33 million monthly active users by the third week of June. The game was a freemium game, meaning there was no cost to play but players had the option of purchasing premium content. The game was taken offline on June 17, 2013.

<i>Clay Jam</i> 2012 video game

Clay Jam is a claymation mobile game created by UK developer Fat Pebble and published by Zynga for iOS and Android mobile devices. It was released on November 29, 2012 on iOS and Android. The handmade, stop-motion game was created in a UK garage by Fat Pebble developers. In the game, players guide a clay ball over a series of hills with the objective of squashing monsters on the way down. As of November 2018 the game is no longer available on the Google Play Store, along with Play-Doh Jam, their Play-Doh-related sequel, which is still unavailable on the App Store.

Mark Skaggs is an American video game producer and executive. Skaggs is known for leading the team that created the Facebook game FarmVille for Zynga, leading the team that created CityVille. He served as Executive Producer and product lead for the PC real-time strategy games Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, Command & Conquer: Generals, and The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth.
