Kuala Lumpur, officially the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and colloquially referred to as KL, is a federal territory and the ceremonial, legislative and judicial capital city of Malaysia. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Asia and the largest city in Malaysia, covering an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) with a census population of 1,982,112 as of 2020. Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.564 million people as of 2018. It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in Southeast Asia, both in population and economic development.
Selangor, also known by its Arabic honorific Darul Ehsan, or "Abode of Sincerity", is one of the 13 Malaysian states. It is on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is bordered by Perak to the north, Pahang to the east, Negeri Sembilan to the south, and the Strait of Malacca to the west. Hang Tuah Jaya is a planned area in the Malaysian state of Malacca created by its government as the state's administrative centre and smart city with economical, social, infrastructural and recreational developments. It was launched by the fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on 25 June 2006, consists of parts of Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin districts and covers an area of 144 square kilometres. The area became a municipality on 1 January 2010 and governed by the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council, which is headquartered at Melaka Mall in Ayer Keroh, opposite the headquarters of the Malacca City Council along Lebuh Ayer Keroh.

He served as the 9th Chief Minister of Melaka from December 1999 to May 2013, Deputy Minister of Health from November 1996 to December 1999, Deputy Minister of Transport from May 1995 to November 1996, Member of Parliament (MP) for Batu Berendam from April 1995 to November 1999, Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bukit Batu from March 2004 to May 2013, Paya Rumput from November 1999 to March 2004, Sungai Udang from October 1990 to April 1995 and Ayer Molek from August 1986 to October 1990. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

He is a member and was Information Chief, Spokesperson as well as Vice-President of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH coalition.
