Bulawayo Central is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Bulawayo. It is currently represented since the 2023 election by Surrender Kapoikilu of the Citizens Coalition for Change. Notable former MPs for the constituency include former Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Smith.

Matabeleland South is a province in southwestern Zimbabwe. With a population of 683,893 as of the 2012 Zimbabwean census. It is the country's least populated province after Matabeleland North.Matabeleland South and Matabeleland North were established in 1974, when the original Matabeleland Province was bifurcated. The province is divided into six districts. Gwanda is the capital, and Beitbridge is the province's largest town. The name "Matabeleland" is derived from Ndebele, the province's largest ethnic group.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1979 Rhodesian general election</span>

General elections were held in Rhodesia in April 1979, the first where the majority black population elected the majority of seats in parliament. The elections were held following the Internal Settlement negotiated by the Rhodesian Front government of Ian Smith and were intended to provide a peaceful transition to majority rule on terms not harmful to White Rhodesians. In accordance with the Internal Settlement, on 1 June, Rhodesia officially became the nation of Zimbabwe Rhodesia, under the government of the United African National Council elected in the 1979 elections. The Internal Settlement was not approved internationally but the incoming government under Bishop Abel Muzorewa did decide to participate in the Lancaster House talks which led to the end of the dispute and the creation of Zimbabwe.

Parliamentary elections were held in Zimbabwe in June and July 1985. The result was a victory for the ruling ZANU–PF party led by Robert Mugabe, which increased its majority in parliament.

Lovemore Moyo is a Zimbabwean politician who was Speaker of the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe from 2008 to 2013. He was the National Chairman of the Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai (MDC-T) party led by Morgan Tsvangirai from 2006 to 2018.

Bulawayo South is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Bulawayo. Its current MP since a 2023 by-election is Raj Modi of ZANU–PF. Notable former MPs for the constituency include Eddie Cross and David Coltart.

The 7th Parliament of Zimbabwe was a meeting of the Zimbabwean Parliament, composed of the Senate and the House of Assembly. It met in Harare over five sessions from 25 August 2008 to 27 June 2013. Its membership was set by the disputed 2008 Zimbabwean general election, which resulted in a ZANU–PF majority in the Senate and Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai control of the House of Assembly. Political negotiations resulted in the 2009 Government of National Unity, a coalition government composed of ZANU–PF, the MDC–T, and the MDC–M.

Bulawayo East was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Bulawayo. It was dissolved in the delimitation process prior to the 2023 election. Its most recent MP, elected in the 2018 election, was Ilos Nyoni of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance. Bulawayo East was also a constituency of the Parliament of Rhodesia between 1939 and 1979.

Emakhandeni–Entumbane was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe between 2008 and 2023. Located in Bulawayo, it was most recently represented by Dingilizwe Tshuma of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance.

Nicola Jane Watson is a Zimbabwean accountant and politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe from 2013 until 2023. She was first elected to one of the seats reserved for women, then as the MP for Bulawayo Central in 2018, before defeating the Zanu-PF incumbent Raj Modi in Bulawayo South in 2023.

Elections were held in Zimbabwe on 31 July 2013 for the presidency and to set the membership of Parliament, consisting of the Senate and National Assembly. Robert Mugabe of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) was reelected President with 61% of the vote against his main contender, Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai (MDC–T), who received 34%. ZANU–PF won large majorities in both houses of Parliament.

Rajeshkumar Indukant Modi is a Zimbabwean businessman and politician who is a member-elect of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe for Bulawayo South. He previously served as the MP for the constituency and as deputy minister of industry and commerce and from 2018 until 2023. He is a member of ZANU–PF.

Pelandaba–Mpopoma was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe. Located in the city of Bulawayo in eastern Zimbabwe, it comprised the high-density suburbs of Imiyela, Mabutweni, Matshobana, Mpopoma, Mpopoma South, and Pelandaba. Its most recent MP following the 2018 election was Charles Moyo of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance.

Cowdray Park is a constituency of the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in the Cowdray Park suburb of Bulawayo. Created for the 2023 general election, it is represented since a December 2023 by-election by Arthur Mujeyi of ZANU–PF.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023–2024 Zimbabwean by-elections</span> 2023/2024 by-elections in Zimbabwe

By-elections were held in Zimbabwe on 11 November 2023, on 9 December 2023, on 3 February 2024 and on 27 April 2024 to fill vacancies in the National Assembly and in local government. The by-elections were triggered by Sengezo Tshabangu, who claimed to be the interim Secretary-General of the Citizens Coalition for Change, when he recalled nine constituency legislators, six proportional representative women’s quota and senators and seventeen councilors mainly from Bulawayo, one of the party's strongholds.

Pashor Raphael Sibanda is a Zimbabwean politician who was elected to the National Assembly of Zimbabwe in the 2023 general election. He represented the constituency of Cowdray Park as a member of the Citizens Coalition for Change. In October 2023, Sibanda and a group of CCC MPs were expelled from Parliament following a letter by Sengezo Tshabangu, who claimed to be interim secretary-general of the CCC.
