Buntport Theater Company is a non-profit [1] professional theater group in Denver, Colorado. The company creates and produces original works and adaptations through a collaborative team approach without officially designated positions for writers, directors, or designers. [2]
The core members currently include Brian Colonna, Hannah Duggan, Erik Edborg, Erin Rollman, and Samantha Schmitz. [3] Co-founder Evan Weissman transitioned to focus on a "civic health club" called Warm Cookies of the Revolution in 2013. [4]
The Company welcomes visual and performing artists from various locations, including Philadelphia, New York City, Seattle, and Australia, to perform for Denver audiences. [ citation needed ]
The members of Bundport Theater Company began collaborating while attending Colorado College in Colorado Springs in the late 1990s. [5] Their first performance, "Quixote," was staged in July 1998. [6]
The company initially produced a few shows and toured theaters, schools, and fringe theatre festivals. In 2000, they transformed a cement warehouse into a fully operational black box theater with adaptable seating. As of 2022, Buntport has staged 45 mainstage productions [6] and 100 episodes of two "live sitcoms" (Magnets on the Fridge and Starship Troy). They also present an all-ages live comic book show, tRUNks, which has produced over 40 installments.[ citation needed ]
Buntport has received over 75 awards, including the Denver's Mayor Award in 2010. [7]
Buntport has defined its mission as providing high-quality programming, keeping ticket prices affordable, and ensuring audience engagement.
To foster regular audience participation, Buntport introduced a live sitcom format. Over six months, they debuted a new episode of a "sitcom" every other Tuesday and Wednesday night, complete with commercial breaks and summer reruns. Each episode was crafted based on an audience suggestion from the previous episode and often featured guest stars from the Denver theater scene.
The inaugural sitcom production, Magnets on the Fridge, gained a devoted following, earning numerous accolades from the media and critics. It ran for five seasons before being succeeded by Starship Troy, which had a successful three-season run.
Buntport brought their live sitcoms to a close on December 31, 2008, with the airing of the 100th episode of the show.
The Buntport ensemble, drawing from the style of their live sitcom, has developed and presents a family-friendly live comic book named tRUNks. This production, which runs on alternate Saturdays, is produced by Buntport and occasionally features ensemble members as guest stars. tRUNks is scripted and performed by Jessica Robblee, Mitch Slevc, and Matt Zambrano. It has received recognition for outstanding children's theater from notable Colorado publications and the Colorado Theatre Guild.[ citation needed ]

Phamaly Theatre Company, also known as just Phamaly, is a theater group and touring company based in Denver, Colorado, formed entirely of people with disabilities from across the spectrum. Phamaly was founded in 1989 by five people living with disabilities who wanted to create a theatre company that provided individuals like them with the opportunity to perform. Since their debut, Phamaly Theatre Company (PTC) has produced more and more shows each year, including original works which have received multiple local awards, such as Denver Post Ovation Awards, Westword Awards, and Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Awards. The company's season also includes various touring and educational shows.
Steven Dietz is an American playwright, theatre director, and teacher. Called "the most ubiquitous American playwright whose name you may never have heard", Dietz has long been one of America's most prolific and widely produced playwrights. In 2019, Dietz was again named one of the 20 most-produced playwrights in America.
The 1stBank Center was a multi-purpose arena located 15 miles northwest of Downtown Denver, in the city of Broomfield. It was located near the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport and the Flatiron Crossing Mall. Opening in 2006, the arena naming rights belonged to 1stBank, a local financial institution since 2010. The venue was typically used for mid-sized concerts in the Denver Metro area, seating up to 6,500 patrons. From June 2010 until May 2014, the arena housed the Colorado Music Hall of Fame before it moved to its permanent home at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. For sports, it was the home of the Denver Roller Dolls and former home of the Rocky Mountain Rage and Colorado 14ers.

Adam Cayton-Holland is an American stand-up comedian from Denver, Colorado best known for his work with the comedy trio The Grawlix and their sitcom television series Those Who Can't. Cayton-Holland is also a writer who has been published in numerous regional and national publications; his first book, Tragedy Plus Time: A Tragi-Comic Memoir, received the 2019 Colorado Book Award for Creative Non-Fiction. He is the founder and executive director of High Plains Comedy Festival. As a comic, he is a regular headliner at clubs and colleges throughout the United States and abroad.
The Historic Elitch Theatre is located at the original Elitch Gardens site in northwest Denver, Colorado. Opened in 1890, it was centerpiece of the park that was the first zoo west of Chicago. The theatre was Denver's first professional theatre, serving as home to America's first and oldest summer-stock theatre company from 1893 until the 1960s. The first films in the western US were shown there in 1896. Cecil B. DeMille sent yearly telegrams wishing the theatre another successful season, calling it "one of the cradles of American drama."

Mel Tanner was an American light sculptor, painter, installation artist, and videographer. His wife, Dorothy Tanner, was an American light sculptor, installation artist, musician, videographer, and spoken word artist based in Denver, Colorado. The couple worked very closely for over 40 years. Their main project was the creation of Lumonics that consists of their light sculptures, live projection, video, electronics, and music as a total art installation. Author and art historian, Michael Betancourt, described this visual music performance work as a Gesamtkunstwerk in his book, The Lumonics Theater: The Art of Mel & Dorothy Tanner, published in 2004.
Clay Rose is an American visual artist, singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist. Rose attended high school in Tennessee and moved to Colorado at the age of 22.
