Burra Venkatesham IAS (born 10 April 1968) [1] is an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the author of Selfie of Success (2019). [2] He is from Jangam,Telangana,India. [3]
Burra Venkatesham was appointed as Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) chairman on 30 November 2024 [4] [5] [6] and he took charge on 5 December2024. [7] [8] He as taken Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) before stepping into the role of TGPSC Chairperson.
Venkatesham was born in Jangam,Telangana in an economically disadvantaged family. He was the first person in the family to receive education. [9]
Venkatesham completed his BA from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College,Hyderabad,in 1989 and LLB from Osmania University,Hyderabad,in 1992. [10] He is an alumnus of Andhra Pradesh Residential School,Sarvail,Telangana. [11]
Venkatesham became an officer of the Indian administrative service in 1995 from the Telangana cadre. [1] He was the District Collector of the Medak district from 2005 to 2008, [12] during which the administration was awarded the SA8000 certificate by the Social Accountability International,New York. The Medak administration was the first in Asia to receive the certificate. [13] His experience as the District Collector was written about by the 11th President of India,A.P.J Abdul Kalam,in his book,Pathways to Greatness:Coming Together for Change. [14]
In February 2014,the then Chief Secretary to Andhra Pradesh,Pradip Kumar Mohanty,appointed Venkatesham as part of the three-member team of senior IAS officers for the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Committee. [15] For the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act,2014,he was responsible for the Agriculture,Horticulture,Sericulture,Civil Supplies,Animal Husbandry,Fisheries and Dairy Development,Backward Castes Welfare,Minorities Welfare,Social Welfare,Tribal Welfare,and Rain Shadow Area Development Secretariat departments. His role was also to support the Services and Procedures,Educational Institutions,and Medical Institutions committees under the General Administration (SR) Department. [16] He is the first Home Secretary of Telangana state. [17]
He is the secretary to the Government of Telangana for Youth Advancement,Tourism and Culture (YAT&C) department since 2015. [18] He is the Secretary to the Backward Class Welfare department, [19] the Chairman of the Chitramayee State Art Gallery, [20] the Chairman of National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management,a part of the Management team of Telangana Tourism, [21] and was the Chairman of Society for Employment Promotion &Training in Twin Cities (SETWIN) [22]
As the secretary of Culture,Venkatesham organized International Sweets Festival in Hyderabad [23] [24] and the International Snacks Festival in collaboration with Hyderabad Metro. [25] [26]
B. Venkatesham assumed office as Education department Principal Secretary and also full additional charge as Collegiate Education Commissioner on 18 December 2023. [27] [28] He also holds the Full Additional Charge as the Principal Secretary to Governor Jishnu Dev Verma.
In 2019,Venkatesham authored the book, Selfie of Success . [41] [42] He was felicitated by V. Srinivas Goud,the minister for Tourism,for writing the book. [43]
In 2019,Venkatesham was named the Person of the Year by the Creative India magazine. [44]
Nara Chandrababu Naidu,commonly known as CBN,is an Indian politician who is currently serving as the 13th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He holds the record of longest-serving Chief Minister in the political history of Telugu states. He is the national president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

The Telangana High Court is the High Court for the Indian state of Telangana. Founded by the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan,initially,it was set up as High Court of Hyderabad for the then princely state of Hyderabad Deccan and later renamed High Court of Andhra Pradesh,as it was set up on 5 November 1956 under the States Reorganisation Act,1956. The Andhra Pradesh High Court was renamed as High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad in view of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state.
Lok Satta is a classical liberal political party in India,founded by Nagabhairava Jaya Prakash Narayana,a former IAS officer and renowned activist from Andhra Pradesh. Since 1996,the Lok Satta Movement functioned as a non-governmental organisation,but on 2 October 2006,the movement was reorganised into a formal political party. The party intends to further the causes of the Lok Satta Movement,including a reduction in the size of the cabinet,promotion of the Right to Information Act,and disclosure of criminal records and assets by political candidates. On 23 March 2016,the party founder president,Jayaprakash Narayan said that they will not take part in electoral politics for sometime.

Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy,also known mononymously as Jagan,is an Indian politician,currently serving as the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Pulivendula Assembly constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly. He served as the 17th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 2019 to 2024,and is the current president of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He is also the son of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Telangana Secretariat,officially known as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat situated at Hyderabad,is the administrative office of the employees of the Government of Telangana in India. The Telangana government on 15 September 2022 has decided to name the new Secretariat complex as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. Designed by Chennai-based Architects Ponni Concessao and Oscar Concessao,the complex has been built by Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Pvt Limited with all Green Building Council norms. There is a 125-ft tall statue of Ambedkar beside the Telangana Secretariat.
Andhra Pradesh,retrospectively referred to as United Andhra Pradesh,and Undivided Andhra Pradesh,was a state in India formed by States Reorganisation Act,1956 with Hyderabad as its capital and was reorganised by Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act,2014. The state was made up of three distinct cultural regions of Telangana,Rayalaseema,and Coastal Andhra. The Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act,2020 is an act of Andhra Pradesh Legislature aimed at the decentralisation of governance in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The bill was proposed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish three capitals at different places in the state namely Visakhapatnam,Amaravati,and Kurnool,which will serve as executive,legislative and judicial capitals respectively.
