Busytown Mysteries, also known as Hurray for Huckle!, [1] is an animated television series produced by Canadian studio Cookie Jar Entertainment, with Singapore studio Peach Blossom Media joining in production for the second series. It airs in Canada as part of the Kids' CBC block and on the Tiny Pop channel in the United Kingdom. In the United States, the show was scheduled to debut on Qubo, but it aired as part of the Cookie Jar TV block on CBS instead, and then returned to the United States on Starz.

Season one was directed by Ken Cunningham and produced by Christine Davis. Animation for season one was produced by Helix Digital inc. Post production was handled by Fearless Films and Supersonics Productions inc. Season one was the winner of the 2009 CFTPA award for best children's program, and nominated for the 2009 Pulcinella award for best preschool series at Italy's prestigious "Cartoons on the Bay".

Season two was directed by Larry Jacobs with post directing by Ken Cunningham and produced by Genna Du Plessis, and Audrey Velichka.

Overview

The show takes place in Richard Scarry's Busytown and teaches the deductive reasoning through stories in which Huckle Cat (with his sister Sally Cat, and friend Lowly Worm) solve mysteries by examining evidence, with occasional help from friends such as Hilda Hippo, and twins Pig Will and Pig Won't. The mysteries are filed through insect reporter Gold Bug, who comes with a microphone and his own personal news van.

Home releases

Between 2009-2010, NCircle Entertainment released several DVD releases of the series in the United States. The first two releases: "The Very Best Busytown Friends Ever!" [2] and "Zooming Around Busytown" [3] were released on February 10, 2009. The third: "The Best Outside Fun Ever!" was released on June 30, 2009. All three of these releases were released under the show's alternate title: Hurray for Huckle!. The last two releases: "A Pickle of a Pickle in Busytown", [4] released on May 25, 2010, and "The Mysterious Mysteries Of Busytown", released on July 13, 2010, [5] were released under the show's original title.

On July 27, 2010, Mill Creek Entertainment released a DVD called You and Me Solve a Mystery, a 3-disc set featuring the entire second season of the series on DVD, once again in the United States. Similar to other Cookie Jar releases from Mill Creek, the set also contains a bonus episode of The Busy World of Richard Scarry alongside four other Cookie Jar shows: Wimzie's House , A Miss Mallard Mystery , Nellie the Elephant and Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings . [6] The company also released the first disc as a standalone release on the same day, titled "The Biggest Mysteries Ever!", containing the same bonus episode of The Busy World of Richard Scarry. [7]

Michael Hirsh (born 1948) is a Belgian-born Canadian producer, TV executive, entrepreneur, and author. He has been attributed to building from the ground up the Canadian animation industry and, more specifically, award-winning children's programming since the 1980s.  He co-founded Nelvana, a Canadian based animation and entertainment studio in 1971 with partners Patrick Loubert and Clive A. Smith producing numerous cartoons that established Nelvana as a leader in the industry including Little Bear, Franklin, Babar, Max & Ruby, The Magic School Bus, Care Bears, Adventures of TinTin, Inspector Gadget, Droids  and  Ewoks, among many, many others. After Corus Entertainment's acquisition of Nelvana, Hirsh became CEO of Cookie Jar Entertainment, which created numerous highly popular children's shows, among them  Arthur,  Johnny Test, and Strawberry Shortcake. When Cookie Jar was acquired by DHX Media Hirsh became the Executive Chairman of the company, the largest supplier of kids programming to online streaming services as well as a leader in production and licensing and merchandising for children. Three years after the acquisition by DHX Media, Hirsh left the company to serve as CEO and chairman of WOW! Unlimited Media from 2015 to December 2023.

Horseland is an American animated series produced by DIC Entertainment. It is a comic mischief program following the events in the lives of a group of children riding at Horseland, an equestrian school and stables. Their adventures include riding their horses and entering them in competitions to test their skill and friendships. The show premiered on September 16, 2006, as part of CBS's new Saturday morning cartoon block, KOL Secret Slumber Party on CBS later KEWLopolis. Magi-Nation is an animated series created by Shelley Hoffman and Robert Pincombe based on the card game Magi-Nation Duel. The series was co-produced by Cookie Jar Entertainment, in association with The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The series premiered in Canada on September 8, 2007, on CBC and on September 22, 2007 in the U.S. on Kids' WB. A series of DVDs was set to be released from October 21, 2008 through January 6, 2009 from NCircle Entertainment. Pickle and Peanut is an American animated television series created by Noah Z. Jones and developed by Joel Trussell. It aired on Disney XD from September 7, 2015, to January 20, 2018. It is about two friends, Pickle and Peanut, an anthropomorphic pickle and peanut whose misadventures form the content of the show. The show utilizes a wide variety of different art styles and animation techniques. This includes but is not limited to stylized traditional animation, CGI, rotoscoping, stop motion, puppetry, stock imagery, special effects, visual effects, and live action.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is an animated children's adventure comedy television series based on the 1985 book of the same name. The pilot was originally released on November 4, 2015; the series was later released on Amazon Video on November 7, 2017.
