Butler College Prep (formerly known as Pullman College Prep) is a public four-year charter high school located in the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, USA. It is a part of the Noble Network of Charter Schools. It shares its campus with Corliss High School. [1] It is named after John and Alice Butler, who provided the funding necessary to open the school. [2] It is a part of the Noble Network of Charter Schools. Butler College Prep is a Level 1 school, based on CPS school quality rankings. [3] Butler College Prep opened in 2013. [4]

Academics

Butler College Preparatory High School is rated a 3 out of 10 by GreatSchools.org, a national school quality information site. [5] GreatSchools’ Summary Rating is based on four of the school’s themed ratings: the Test Score Rating, Student or Academic Progress Rating, College Readiness Rating, and Equity Rating and flags for discipline and attendance disparities at a school.

Enrichment and After-School Programming

Butler offers a variety of programs and athletics outside of the school day and during the summer. [6] Butler College Prep is a member of the Noble League athletic conference. [7] Leaders receive enrichment credit during the school year through playing sports and participating in on-campus enrichment opportunities such as the Debate Team, Student Government, Marching/Pep Band, Step Team, Yearbook, and Yoga. Butler College Prep students have the option of participating in the Summer of a Lifetime program, where they are provided funding and support to participate in life-changing, summer academic enrichment programs on college campuses nationwide. Awards, Accolades, and Recognition

In 2016, Butler College Prep was recognized by Chicago Magazine as the best charter high school in Chicago. [9] The previous year, In 2015, the Illinois Network of Charter Schools recognized Butler College Prep as the state’s highest-performing charter school (in terms of test growth) with a predominantly black student body. [9] Butler College Prep has also been recognized by Ebony Magazine for its commitment to diversity in its teaching staff. [10] In 2016, Fusion Media Group spotlighted a teacher and a student with cerebral palsy from Butler College Prep. [11]

Noble was co-founded in 1999 by Michael Milkie and Tonya Hernandez through a partnership between Ron Manderschied, President of Northwestern University Settlement House. Renaissance 2010 was a program of the Chicago Public Schools school district of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Pushed by for-profit education companies, Renaissance 2010 initiative was announced in June 2004 by the Chicago Public Schools and the City of Chicago. Renaissance 2010 called for 100 new schools by 2010. Under Renaissance 2010, the Chicago Public Schools closed over 80 public schools, and sought to create 100 charter schools by 2010. These schools were to be held accountable for test score performance through 5-year contracts while following one of three governance structures: charter, contract, or performance.

Hubbard High School is a public four-year high school located in the West Lawn neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Hubbard is part of the Chicago Public Schools district. The school is named for American fur trader and insurance underwriter Gurdon Saltonstall Hubbard. As of 2017, Hubbard had an 82.9% five–year graduation rate. In 2017, the student population was 91% Hispanic and 96% "low income".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Urban Prep Academies</span>

Urban Prep Academies is a nonprofit organization that operated three free open-enrollment public all-male college-preparatory high schools in Chicago. Founded in 2002, and receiving its first charter approval from Chicago Public Schools in 2005, it operates the first all-male public charter high school in the United States. The network opened a second campus in 2009 and a third in August 2010. From 2010 to 2019, 100% of the seniors in the school's graduating classes were admitted to four-year colleges or universities. In 2023 its charter was revoked over misconduct allegations and Chicago Public Schools moved to take over its campuses. The decision is controversial and is being contested in court.

William H. Wells Community Academy High School is public four-year high school located in the West Town neighborhood on the Near Northwest Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Wells is a part of the Chicago Public Schools system. Wells serves grades 9 through 12. Wells is named after former superintendent of Chicago Public Schools William H. Wells.
