Mukherjee won Bengal Film Journalists' Association – Best Male Playback Award in 2004 for the film Patalghar. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the finest actors in the Bengali film industry due to his versatility in various roles. His son, Bihu Mukherjee debuted in the film Abar Basanta Bilap.
Byomkesh was a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The series starred Gaurav Chakrabarty, Saugata Bandyopadhyay and Ridhima Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ajit and Satyabati respectively. The series premiered on 20 November 2014 on Colors Bangla channel and ended on 14 November 2015. This series is re-runned on 4 March 2024. The first episode was narrated by Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.

Byomkesh is a Bengali streaming television series based on the Byomkesh Bakshi character created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Set in the 1930s, the series is based on the adventures of Byomkesh, and his friend and biographer Ajit, who usually accompanies Bakshi during his investigations. Anirban Bhattacharya portrays the lead role of Byomkesh, with Subrat Dutta in the role of Byomkesh's trusted friend-turned-aide, Ajit. The story is about a middle-class family that deals with various challenges and complications on a daily basis and fights all odds to stay united. With over a thousand episodes that aired in early 2000s the serial was a mega-blockbuster hit in Bengal and other Bengali language dominant parts of the world.
Gramer Rani Binapani an Indian television series which was telecasted on Star Jalsha and also available on Disney+ Hotstar. The show is produced by Nispal Singh, Surinder Singh and Susanta Das under the banner of Boyhood Productions. It premiered on 8 March 2021. It stars Honey Bafna and Annmary Tom. Later, it also included Moupiya Goswami and Nisha Poddar in the lead roles in the 2nd generation. The show aired its last episode on 24 June 2022.
F.I.R No. 339/07/06 is a 2021 Indian Bengali-language crime thriller film written and directed by Joydip Mukherjee. The film stars Ankush Hazra, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Bonny Sengupta, Falaque Rashid Roy and Shantilal Mukherjee in the lead roles. The film was released on 10 October 2021 coinciding with the Puja holidays. The film premiered on ZEE5 on 22 October 2021, 12 days after the release.
