Byron Bay AFL Football Club, also known as the Byron Bay Magpies, is a Byron Bay, New South Wales based club competing in the QAFA Northern Rivers competition. It was founded in 1984. [1]

Formed in 1984 the Magpies played in the Summerland AFL until it was merged into the Queensland State League in 2011.

The Summerland Australian Football League or SAFL was an Australian rules football competition in the Northern Rivers and New England region of New South Wales, Australia, in existence from 1984 to 2011.

From 2012 the club will played in the SEQAFL Division 4 South/Northern Rivers league. [2]

In 2014 the club joined and played in the QAFA (Northern Rivers) league where it remains.

Byron Bay is a beachside town located in the far-northeastern corner of the state of New South Wales, Australia. In 2005 Pickett was acknowledged as one of the finest Aboriginal players in the history of the game, with his selection to the Indigenous Team of the Century. He announced his retirement from AFL at the end of the 2007 season.

Jeremy Clayton is a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League before enjoying great success in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) with the Port Adelaide Magpies, winning the Magarey Medal for the best and fairest in the SANFL in 2005.

Western Magpies Australian Football Club

The Western Magpies Australian Football Club is the senior Australian rules football club of the western suburbs of Brisbane which competes in Division One of the AFLQ State League. Ben Kennedy is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A small forward, 1.75 metres tall and weighing 78 kilograms (172 lb), Kennedy is able to contribute as a crumbing forward and is also capable of moving into the midfield. He played top-level football from a young age by representing South Australia from fifteen years of age, including as a bottom aged player in the 2011 AFL Under 18 Championships, and playing in Glenelg's senior side in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) at seventeen. His junior achievements included two-time selection in the under 18 All-Australian side, a SANFL star search nomination, and selection in the South Australian under 18 team of the decade. He was recruited by the Collingwood Football Club with the nineteenth selection in the 2012 AFL draft and he made his debut in the 2013 season. He played three seasons with Collingwood for a total of twenty-five matches before he was traded to Melbourne during the 2015 trade period. The Queensland Football Association Northern Rivers is an Australian rules football competition containing four clubs based in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales and the southern area of the Gold Coast in Queensland. The league was initially known as the Summerland Australian Football League and was established in 1984 as a New South Wales-only competition involving clubs from Ballina, Byron Bay, Goonellabah and Lismore. The competition saw several clubs from the regions of the Northern Rivers, New England and the Mid North Coast come and go between the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2010 the league allowed entry to its first Queensland-based team, Coolangatta-Tweed Heads. In 2012 the remaining clubs joined the AFL Queensland umbrella and rebranded to the QAFA (B) South.

The Byron Bay Red Devils are an Australian rugby league football team based in Byron Bay, New South Wales they played in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League.
