CSN 2012 is the eighteenth album by Crosby, Stills & Nash and their fourth live album. Released in 2012 on Atlantic Records, it is the group's first release on their original label in 18 years. [2] The album derives from recordings done on the group's 2012 tour in both audio and video formats. [3]
After reuniting for a Bridge School Benefit in 2010, the surviving members of Buffalo Springfield played seven shows in 2011. In 2012, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, and Neil Young planned a full-blown Buffalo Springfield tour. After venues had been secured and tour personnel hired, Young dropped out to join up with Crazy Horse for two albums and a tour instead, leaving Stills "in a lurch". Crosby & Nash canceled their plans for a duo tour to reunite with Stills for a Crosby, Stills and Nash tour in place of the Buffalo Springfield tour. [4]

Buffalo Springfield were a Canadian–American rock band formed in Los Angeles by three Canadians and two Americans. The group, widely known for the song "For What It's Worth", released three albums and several singles from 1966–1968. Their music combined elements of folk music and country music with British Invasion and psychedelic rock influences. They were, as were The Byrds, key to the early development of folk rock. The band took their name from a steamroller parked outside their house.
Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) is a folk rock supergroup made up of American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills, and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash. When joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young as a fourth member, they are called Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY). They are noted for their intricate vocal harmonies, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, political activism, and lasting influence on American music and culture.
Stephen Arthur Stills is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. As both a solo act and member of two successful bands, Stills has combined record sales of over 35 million albums. He was ranked number 28 in Rolling Stone's 2003 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and number 47 in the 2011 list. Stills became the first person to be inducted twice on the same night into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. According to Neil Young, "Stephen is a genius."
David Van Cortlandt Crosby is an American singer-songwriter and musician. In addition to his solo career, he was a founding member of both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Déjà Vu is the second studio album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, and their first as a quartet with Neil Young. It was released in March 1970 by Atlantic Records. It topped the pop album chart for one week and generated three Top 40 singles: "Woodstock", "Teach Your Children", and "Our House". It was re-released in 1977 as SD-19188 and the cover was changed from black to brown. In 2003, the album was ranked No. 148 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Certified septuple platinum by RIAA, the album's sales currently sit at over 8 million copies. It remains the highest-selling album of each member's career to date.
Long May You Run is a studio album credited to the Stills–Young Band, a collaboration between Stephen Stills and Neil Young, released in 1976 on Reprise Records. It peaked at #26 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold in the United States by the RIAA. The album is the sole studio release by Stills and Young in tandem.
Crosby, Stills & Nash is the first album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, released in 1969 on the Atlantic Records label. It is currently the trio configuration's best selling record, outselling 1969's Crosby, Stills & Nash by 200,000 copies. It has been certified quadruple platinum by RIAA.
"Marrakesh Express" is a song written by Graham Nash and performed by the band Crosby, Stills and Nash (CSN). It was first released in May 1969 on the self-titled album, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and released on a 45-RPM single in July of the same year, with another CSN song, "Helplessly Hoping," as its backing side. The single reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 23, 1969. It reached the same position on the Easy Listening chart. The song was best received in the UK and Canada, reaching #17 in both nations.
Looking Forward is the third studio album by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and their fifth, overall. It is the fourteenth album when conflated with releases by the trio of Crosby, Stills & Nash. It was released on Reprise Records in 1999 and peaked at number 26 on the Billboard 200, with total sales nearing 400,000. It is Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's last studio album to date.
Manassas was an American rock band formed by Stephen Stills in 1971. Predominantly a vehicle for Stills' music, the band released two albums: 1972's Manassas and 1973's Down the Road. The band dissolved in October 1973.
Live It Up is the tenth album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, their fourth studio album in the trio configuration, released on Atlantic Records in 1990. It peaked at No. 57 on the Billboard 200 with current sales of 300,000. It is the first of their studio albums not to gain either a gold or platinum certification by the RIAA. It was issued in all formats at the time and was later released for streaming on Spotify.
Buffalo Springfield is a compilation album released on Atco Records in 1973. It is the fifth album by rock band Buffalo Springfield, and their second compilation. It was assembled by the label well after the band had broken up at a time when Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were quite popular and had not released any new material as a group for over two years, with their 1974 reunion tour eight months away. It features a nine-minute extended version of the song "Bluebird" by Stephen Stills, only available elsewhere on the Warner Special Products LP compilation "Heavy Metal – 24 Electrifying Performances", released in 1974. It has never been issued on compact disc and is currently out of print.
Allies is the eighth album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, their second concert document, and released on Atlantic Records in 1983. A live concert clip for "Wasted on the Way" received some rotation on MTV and VH1 at the time, as did the single "War Games". It peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard 200.
Stephen Stills Live is a live album by Stephen Stills, released on Atlantic Records in 1975. Recorded on his first solo tour since 1971 and released after he had signed to Columbia Records. It peaked at number 42 on the US charts.
4 Way Street is the third album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, their second as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and their first live album. It was originally released as Atlantic Records SD-2-902, shipping as a gold record and peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. A document of their tour from the previous year, the live recordings presented were taken from shows at the Fillmore East on June 2 through June 7, 1970; The Forum on June 26 through June 28, 1970; and the Auditorium Theatre on July 5, 1970.
Déjà Vu Live is the sixteenth album by the rock band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, their sixth in the quartet configuration, and their third live album overall, released by Reprise Records in 2008. It peaked at #153 on the Billboard 200, recorded on their 2006 Freedom of Speech tour. The album was released on vinyl in early 2009 and was pressed on 200-gram vinyl in Japan.
Carry On is a 4-CD career retrospective box set by Stephen Stills. It features highlights from his career as a solo artist and with groups including The Au Go Go Singers, Buffalo Springfield, Manassas, and various permutations of CSN&Y. The tracks are arranged in general chronological order of release. The album also includes previously unreleased material.
These tours were the third tours as the trio of Crosby, Stills & Nash, without Neil Young. They were in support of the 1982 album Daylight Again, and the 1983 live album Allies.
