Early life and education

Bonsu-Stewart was born on 6 June 2004 in London, England, to a Ghanaian mother and a Jamaican father. [1] Raised in a culturally diverse household, he was exposed to a wide range of musical influences from an early age. He began studying classical piano and operatic singing at the age of six through weekly private lessons, which provided a strong musical foundation and nurtured his passion for self-taught composition and music production. Alongside his formal training, he taught himself music production through YouTube tutorials and developed his compositional style intuitively by improvising at the piano. [1] [2] [4]

2012–2022: Libera

Bonsu-Stewart joined the internationally renowned Libera choir at the age of seven in 2012. [5] [6] [7] He toured extensively, including a live concert recorded at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., in 2014. This concert was later released as a PBS special and DVD. [5] [8] He served as a soloist on Dreaming of Home in their 2017 Hope album. His decade with Libera was instrumental in shaping his love for classical crossover and neoclassical music, which became central to his artistic identity. [6]

2017–2022: Guildhall School of Music and Drama

Bonsu-Stewart attended Junior Guildhall in 2017, studying classical voice as his principal study, and classical piano as his second study. [9] He later studied classical voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he refined his vocal technique and gained exposure to a rigorous performance environment. However, he left in the middle of his second year to focus on his independent music career, which encompasses composition, music production, public piano performances and content creation. [10] [11]

Career

2021–present: Online presence and public piano performances

In December 2021, camdenmusique began uploading piano covers to various social media platforms, performing on public pianos across London. [2] His 2022 performances, including original piano arrangements of anime soundtracks, film scores, boogie-woogie and classical improvisations, initially attracted him fans. [12] [10]

In June 2022, notable coverage was achieved for his spontaneous duet with pianist and composer Karim Kamar on Hans Zimmer's Cornfield Chase from Interstellar at St Pancras Railway Station. [13]

During this time, camdenmusique also surprised audiences with spontaneous operatic tenor performances. [4]

By 2023, camdenmusique transitioned to performing predominantly original piano compositions.

At the start of 2024, he experimented with fusing operatic tenor vocals with neoclassical piano. He now performs his original works regularly in open venues blending his operatic tenor vocals with his original piano works. [1]

In February 2024, a performance of his original piano composition lost at St Pancras Railway Station went viral on TikTok, amassing over 27 million views, and was featured in The U.S. Sun . [3]
