Pentatomidae Family of insects

Pentatomidae is a family of insects belonging to the order Hemiptera, generally called shield bugs or stink bugs. Pentatomidae is the largest family in the superfamily Pentatomoidea, and contains around 900 genera and over 4700 species. As hemipterans, the pentatomids have piercing sucking mouthparts, and most are phytophagous, including several species which are severe pests on agricultural crops. However, some species, particularly in the subfamily Asopinae, are predatory and may be considered beneficial.

Bandwing Subfamily of grasshoppers

Bandwings, or band-winged grasshoppers are the subfamily Oedipodinae of grasshoppers classified under the family Acrididae. They have a worldwide distribution and were originally elevated to full family status as the Oedipodidae. Many species primarily inhabit xeric weedy fields, and some are considered to be important locusts:

Acanthosomatidae

Acanthosomatidae is a family of Hemiptera, commonly named "shield bugs," for which Kumar in his 1979 world revision recognized 47 genera; now this number is 55 genera, with about 200 species, and is one of the least diversified families within Pentatomoidea.

Anthocoridae

Anthocoridae is a family of bugs, commonly called minute pirate bugs or flower bugs. Worldwide there are 500-600 species.

Delphacidae

Delphacidae is a family of planthoppers containing about 2000 species, distributed worldwide. Delphacids are separated from other "hoppers" by the prominent spur on the tibia of the hindleg.

Tettigoniinae

The Tettigoniinae are a subfamily of bush crickets or katydids, which contains hundreds of species in about twelve tribes.

Sigara

Sigara is a genus of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. Some species within this genus are halophiles; for example, occurrences of the genus have been noted in the hypersaline Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana.

Micronecta scholtzi

Micronecta scholtzi is a species of lesser water boatman in the family Corixidae in the order Hemiptera. It was first described by Franz Xaver Fieber in 1860. They are some 2 mm long and are common in freshwater ponds and lakes across Europe, preferring stagnant to moderately moving water. In Central Europe, the genus Micronecta is represented by five species, as follows:

Sciocoris

Sciocoris is a genus of shield bugs belonging to the family Pentatomidae, subfamily Pentatominae. The genus was erected by Carl Fredrik Fallén in 1829.

Tytthus

Tytthus is a genus of insects in family Miridae, the plant bugs. They are carnivorous, feeding upon the eggs of various planthoppers in the family Delphacidae, and thus are important in the biological control of pests. The genus is distributed throughout the Holarctic of the Northern Hemisphere, but species are also found in the tropics, in China, South America, Australia, and the Indo-Pacific.

Cardiastethus

Cardiastethus is a genus of minute pirate bugs in the family Lyctocoridae. There are more than 20 described species in Cardiastethus.

Elasmostethus

Elasmostethus is a genus of shield bugs belonging to the family Acanthosomatidae.

Oxycarenidae

Oxycarenidae is a family of true bugs in the order Hemiptera. There are more than 20 genera and 140 described species in Oxycarenidae.

Trapezonotus

Trapezonotus is a genus of dirt-colored seed bugs in the family Rhyparochromidae. There are about 19 described species in Trapezonotus.

Artheneidae

Artheneidae is a family of true bugs in the order Hemiptera. It was formerly included in Lygaeidae. There are about 7 genera and at least 20 described species in Artheneidae.

Hesperocorixa

Hesperocorixa is a genus of water boatmen in the family Corixidae. There are more than 20 described species in Hesperocorixa.

Megalotomus

Megalotomus is a genus of broad-headed bugs in the family Alydidae. There are about eight described species in Megalotomus.

Rhyparochromus

Rhyparochromus is a genus of dirt-colored seed bugs in the family Rhyparochromidae. There are more than 40 described species in Rhyparochromus.

Tropistethus is a genus of true bugs belonging to the family Lygaeidae.

Bathysolen is a genus of true bugs belonging to the family Coreidae.
