Canton Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the district of Canton, in Cardiff, South Wales. The club plays their home games at Lawrenny Avenue, located off Leckwith Road, Cardiff.

Canton Rugby Football Club commenced playing in 1876 and was one of the three clubs that founded the Cardiff and District Rugby Union. During this time three teams played within the Canton boundary. Today only Canton remain, the teams of the 1880s provided Cardiff Rugby Club with a stream of players including Welsh Internationals, William James 'Billy' Jenkins, William James Wood 'Buller' Stadden, Albert John Hybart and Billy Douglas to name a few. William James Wood "Buller" Stadden was a Welsh international rugby union half back who played club rugby for Canton, Cardiff and Dewsbury. Stadden won eight caps for Wales over a period of seven years and is most remembered for scoring the winning try in 1890 to give Wales their first victory over England. He committed suicide in Dewsbury after murdering his wife.

William Douglas was a Welsh rugby union back who played club rugby for Canton RFC, Cardiff and international rugby for Wales. Douglas was also a rugby referee, and officiated over four international matches.

Albert Hybart JP was a Welsh rugby union forward who played club rugby for Canton Wanderers RFC, Canton RFC, Cardiff and international rugby for Wales.

John Meredith was a Welsh international rugby union forward who played club rugby for Swansea and won four caps for Wales. Outside rugby, Meredith later became a literary adjudicator in Eisteddfodau.

Nigel Meek is a retired Welsh International rugby union player. He made three appearances for his country, as well as representing Ebbw Vale RFC, Pontypool RFC, Pontypridd RFC, Abertillery RFC and Newbridge RFC in the top division of Welsh club rugby. He also made 11 appearances for the Barbarians between 1992 and 1994, including international matches against Russia, Zimbabwe and an Australian XV.

William Stuart Roy is a former international rugby union player who represented Wales, as well as played in the top division of Welsh club rugby for Cardiff RFC, Pontypridd RFC and Newport RFC. Roy was born in Ely, Cambridgeshire in England, but moved to Anglesey in Wales as a child.

William Justin Lloyd Thomas is a Welsh International rugby union player. He made nine appearances for the Wales national team, as well as representing Llanelli RFC Cardiff RFC, Newport RFC and Caerphilly RFC in the top division of Welsh club rugby.

David Wyn Evans is a former international rugby union player who represented the Wales national team on twelve occasions between 1989 and 1995. He played club rugby for Cardiff RFC and Treorchy RFC.
