The canton of Rumilly is an administrative division of the Haute-Savoie department, southeastern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Rumilly.^[1]

The cantons of France are territorial subdivisions of the French Republic's arrondissements and departments.

Haute-Savoie is a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France, bordering both Switzerland and Italy. Its prefecture is Annecy. To the north is Lake Geneva and Switzerland; to the south and southeast are the Mont Blanc and Aravis mountain ranges. It holds it name from the Savoy historical region, as does the department of Savoie, located south of Haute-Savoie.

In the administrative divisions of France, the department is one of the three levels of government below the national level, between the administrative regions and the commune. Ninety-six departments are in metropolitan France, and five are overseas departments, which are also classified as regions. Departments are further subdivided into 334 arrondissements, themselves divided into cantons; the last two have no autonomy, and are used for the organisation of police, fire departments, and sometimes, elections.

The Fier is a 71.9 km (44.7 mi) long river in the Haute-Savoie and Savoie départements, southeastern France. Its source is at Manigod, in the Aravis Range. It flows generally west. It is a left tributary of the Rhone into which it flows at Seyssel.

The Chéran is a 53.7 km (33.4 mi) long river in the Savoie and Haute-Savoie départements, eastern France. Its source is at Verrens-Arvey, in the massif des Bauges. It flows generally northwest. It is a left tributary of the Fier into which it flows at Rumilly.

The Albanais is a small Savoyard region situated between Lake Annecy and Lac du Bourget, at the entrance to the Parc naturel régional du Massif des Bauges. Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Annecy is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Annecy. It is located in the Haute-Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, southeastern France. It was created in January 2017 by the merger of the former communauté de l'agglomération d'Annecy and four communautés de communes. Its population was 203,078 in 2014, of which 128,422 in Annecy proper.
