The canton of Tonnerrois is an administrative division of the Yonne department, central France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Tonnerre. [1]

The river Armançon drains part of north-western Burgundy in France. It rises at Meilly-sur-Rouvres in the department of Côte-d'Or and flows into the Yonne at Migennes. Its source is at about 380 m (1,250 ft) above sea level and it enters the Yonne, 202 km (126 mi) downstream, at 79 m (259 ft).

County of Tonnerre County in Yonne, France

The county of Tonnerre was east of Auxerre and south of Troyes, centred on the town of Tonnerre in the Yonne region of France. It was set up in the 8th century as a fiefdom of the bishops of Langres, and first became centred on Tonnerre in the 9th century. Through marriage the family also gained the county of Bar-sur-Seine, although the Tonnerre family then became extinct two generations later, with Bar-sur-Seine passing to the counts of Brienne and the county of Tonnerre passing to the dukes of Nevers and Auxerre.
