Captain Ahab was an American electronic music duo based in Los Angeles, California. They referred to their DIY take on jumpstyle and electropop music as "ravesploitation". The band was made up of producer/vocalist Jonathan Snipes and hype man Jim Merson.

They were known for their provocative lyrics and high-energy shows where a sweaty, half-dressed Merson would descend into the crowd to dance and grind on audience members. [1]

In June 2006, Captain Ahab won a contest to have their song "Snakes on the Brain" included on the enhanced CD portion of the soundtrack to the film Snakes on a Plane . [1]

On September 28, 2006, their song "Girls Gone Wild" was played briefly in "The Convention", the second episode of the third season of The Office .

Their single "Was Love" was written for and played in the first season episode "Gravedancing" on the Syfy series Caprica , as well as the remix of Maxfemm's "Weak Condition" [2] [3]

They played their final show at The Smell, in Los Angeles, California on Friday, November 2, 2012 to a sold out crowd. Also performing that evening were Toxic Lipstick, Foot Village, and Books on Tape. The final show was announced via a music video on Vimeo on September 16, 2012. [4]

Snipes is now a member of the experimental and industrial hip hop trio clipping., alongside fellow producer William Hutson and rapper Daveed Diggs.

These Arms Are Snakes

These Arms Are Snakes was an American post-hardcore band that formed in 2002 and featured former members of Botch and Kill Sadie. Before disbanding in 2009, they released three studio albums: Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home (2004), Easter (2006) and Tail Swallower and Dove (2008). Former members of These Arms Are Snakes currently play in Russian Circles, Narrows, Minus the Bear, Crypts, and Hooves.

Eric Paul is a noise rock singer, from Providence, RI. He is known for his erratic vocals, surrealistic lyrics and energetic stage presence. Eric Paul has played in many popular noise bands, such as Arab on Radar, The Chinese Stars, and Doomsday Student. His current project is a noise and experimental group called, Psychic Graveyard. Paul has published three full-length collections of poetry and released various spoken word releases. His work has also appeared in numerous literary journals and magazine including, New York Observer, Hypertext, Ninth Letter, The Volta, Word Riot, Lunch Ticket, Booth, The Literary Review and more... Fat Worm of Error

Fat Worm of Error is an avant-rock band from Northampton, Massachusetts. They are seen as staples of the underground noise and improvisation scene and have helped to start a regional scene of noise music called Western Mass Noise.They utilize traditional rock instruments as well as homemade electronics and other modified instruments. In their live performances, the singer, Jess Goddard, engages in homemade pageantry with homemade surrealist costumes. The band has toured Europe and North America.

Deathbomb Arc is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California, USA. It was started in 1998 by Brian Miller, originally to release music by the band Turbine. Miller's cat Leroy Brown was the label's acting CEO until his death in 2014.
