Captain America (Steven "Steve" Rogers) is a superhero that appears in the comic books published by Marvel Comics. He appears in the Ultimate Universe line of books, and is an alternative version of Captain America and a revamped version of the original Ultimate character. The character first appeared in Ultimate Invasion #4 (September 2023), and was created by writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Bryan Hitch.
Unlike his Captain America's Ultimate predecessor, who was portrayed as an aggressive nationalist, [1] this new iteration of the character resembles the heroic personality and ideals of his Earth-616 variant.
Steven Rogers, better known as Captain America, was a super-soldier who originated during World War II. He participated in the global armed conflict alongside his sidekick, Bucky Barnes, the android Human Torch and the prince of Atlantis, Namor The Sub-Mariner, who formed the superhero team known as "The Invaders", [2] prior to being frozen in the Arctic Circle. When the extra-dimensional villain the Maker sought to alter the world and reshape it, he employed his foreknowledge of history's predetermined path to forestall the emergence of superheroes. This was done in order to preemptively neutralize any potential threats to his designs. However, he was unable to identify the location of Captain America's frozen remains and thus concluded that he had never existed within this particular universe. In reality, the preserved body of Rogers had been retrieved by Anthony Stark, in his armored guise of Iron Lad, and Doom, before the Maker could eliminate him. This pair had traveled from the present era through the Immortus Engine time machine and sought out Captain America upon identifying a gap in stolen files belonging to the Maker. They understood that they were to be the preordained ones to locate him and enlist him in their mission to rectify the world. Nevertheless, recognizing the absence of a viable method to thaw him out of the ice without adverse consequences to his well-being, Iron Lad elected to keep him at Stark Tower until a solution could be devised. [3]
Thanks to the enhancements of the Super Soldier Serum, Steve Rogers possesses peak human abilities such as strength, reflexes, agility, speed, durability and stamina. Rogers is an extremely skilled fighter capable of easily fighting against multiple opponents, due to years of fighting in World War II, he can strategizes battle points. With the aid of his Vibranium shield, Captain America skillfully both employ his shield as a melee weapon and trow it with great accuracy. [4]
