Carl Hogg (born 5 July 1969) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. He is currently the Director of Academy and Development for Gloucester.
Hogg was educated at St. Mary's School, Melrose and Earlston High School. [1]
He played the majority of his rugby career with Melrose RFC. [2]
He played for South of Scotland District. [3] When the Scottish rugby union environment turned professional in 1996, he then played for the professional district Border Reivers.
That side folded in 1998 and Hogg went on to play for Edinburgh. [4]
In 2001, he moved to Leeds Tykes and retired from playing two years later. [5]
He has captained every club side he has played for. [5]
He played for Scotland U19. [5]
He played for Scotland U21 and captained the side. [5]
He was capped by Scotland 'B' on 2 March 1991 to play against France 'B'.
He had 17 appearances for Scotland 'A' between 1992 and 2000, captaining the side on 6 occasions. [5]
Between 1992 and 1994 he made five appearances for Scotland. [5]
Hogg started off at Leeds working with former England coach Stuart Lancaster before moving to London Welsh and then Edinburgh. [4] [5] He joined Gloucester in 2006 as Academy coach before progressing to a senior role as Forwards coach. [4] He joined Dean Ryan as Head coach at Worcester Warriors in 2013, taking responsibility for first team games in all major competitions. On 30 June 2016 he was given control of first team duties after Ryan left the club. [6] In February 2018 Worcester announced that Hogg would be leaving at the end of the season. [7]
On 25 October 2018, Hogg was appointed new interim Head coach of Scotland U20s before the 2019 Six Nations Under 20s Championship [8] On 9 May 2019, Hogg returned to domestic rugby as he was named new Forwards coach for Welsh region Ospreys after the 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship ended. [9] He departed from the Ospreys as of 22 October 2020. [10] On 14 January 2021, Hogg became an Assistant coach for the Russia national team under Head coach Lyn Jones after leaving Ospreys. [11]
On 12 March 2021, Hogg returned to Gloucester to be appointed as their new Director of Academy and Development, working alongside Head of Academy Peter Walton. [12]
Edinburgh Rugby is one of the two professional rugby union teams from Scotland. The club competes in the United Rugby Championship, along with the Glasgow Warriors, its oldest rival. Edinburgh plays the majority of its home games at Edinburgh Rugby Stadium.
Bryan William Redpath is a former Scotland international rugby union player and former rugby union coach. He is currently the Director of Rugby at London Scottish.
Craig Minto Chalmers is a former Scotland international rugby union player and coach. He represented Scotland, the British Lions and the Barbarians at international level. He made 60 international appearances as a player for the Scotland national team and scored 166 points. He played at fly-half with his playing career beginning at Melrose in the amateur era and with the professional era seeing him play Border Reivers and Glasgow Warriors before moving on to English sides Harlequins, Worcester Warriors and Pertemp Bees. He had coaching roles with Melrose and the Scotland national under-20 rugby union team. He later has had a business career in security.
Jonathan Charles Bell is an Irish rugby union coach and former player. He played centre for Ulster, with whom he won the 1998–99 Heineken Cup, Northampton and Ireland, and has coached at Ulster, Gloucester, Glasgow Warriors and Worcester Warriors. As of the 2022–23 season he is defence coach at Ulster.
Kelly Brown is a Scottish rugby union coach and former player. He won 64 caps for the Scotland national team, and played club rugby for Glasgow Warriors, Border Reivers and Saracens as a flanker. He retired from playing in 2017 to become a coach with Saracens' academy. Brown moved to an Assistant Coach position at Glasgow Warriors in 2020 before returning to Saracens in 2021.
Dean Ryan is an English rugby union coach and former player. A former corporal in the Corp of Royal Engineers, he played for England as a Number 8. Since summer 2019 he has been head coach at the Welsh regional side, the Dragons, and was previously head coach or Director of Rugby at Guinness Premiership sides Gloucester Rugby and Worcester Warriors.
Simon Terriss Cross is a Scottish rugby union coach and former player, currently head coach at Old Glory DC. He played in the back row as a flanker for Edinburgh Rugby.

Entry is restricted to Scottish qualified students and both male and female entrants are accepted into 4 regional academies. The 2020–21 season sees the sixth year of the academy, now sponsored by Fosroc.
