Carlos Javier Torres Torres (born January 16, 1967, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican politician and senator. He has been a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico since 2008.
Carlos J. Torres Torres was born on January 16, 1967, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. His parents are Pablo Torres Ramos and Elisa Torres Rodríguez. He has an older sister called Janette.
Torres studied at his hometown of Orocovis, graduating high school from the José Rojas Cortés High School. He finished his bachelor's degree with a major in management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico [ citation needed ] in Ponce, and his master's degree in administration with a major in human resources from Caribbean University in Vega Baja.
Since 1996, Torres started working at the Orocovis Municipality for Mayor Jesús "Tito" Colón. He was part of the Municipal Legislative Assembly, becoming the majority speaker. He then served as deputy mayor for ten years.
Torres Torres was elected to the Senate of Puerto Rico for the District of Guayama at the 2008 general elections. [1] He currently presides the Commission of Ethics of the Senate, as well as vice-president of the Commission of Agriculture, among others. [2]
In December 2011, Torres made official his candidacy for a second term on the 2012 general elections. [3] However, he was defeated in the election by the two candidates from the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). Torres arrived third with 23.6% of the votes.

Roberto Nicolás Rexach Benítez also known as his stage name Bobby, was a Puerto Rican politician, and former Senator and Representative. Rexach Benítez served as the tenth President of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 1996. He also served as a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives from 1973 to 1976, under the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) and as a member of the Senate (1985–1998) under the pro-statehood New Progressive Party (PNP).
Aníbal Salvador Acevedo Vilá is a Puerto Rican politician and lawyer. He served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 2005 to 2009. He is a Harvard University alumnus and a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree. Acevedo Vilá has held various public service positions in the Puerto Rico government under the Popular Democratic Party, serving as a member of the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico (1993–2001) and as the 17th Resident Commissioner (2001–2005), before he was sworn in as Governor on 2 January 2005.
