Carnivale is a 1999 French-Irish animated film directed by Deane Taylor.
Four children and their cat find a magic ticket that admits them entry into a magical and mysterious amusement park that at first seems inviting, but grows more sinister once they try to leave.

The film marked the directorial debut of Deane Taylor who had previously worked as an art director on films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 . [5] [4] Production on the film began in June 1997 until it was completed in February 1999. [4] Producer Gerry Shirren had previously worked as a producer on several Don Bluth films. [6] Taylor had always been fascinated by amusement parks especially with the stark contrast of people who see them as places of fear and fun and wanted to incorporate both of those mindsets into an adventure film for children. [5] Taking inspiration from his work as a theater decorator, Taylor arranged shots in the film as if they were from a child's point of view and coded the lighting so the film began with a bright light source from above while getting progressively darker as the story moves along. [5] For the look of the amusement park itself Taylor based the designs on illustrations of circuses and game galleries from the turn of the century. [5]
In his review for Variety, Paul Power described Carnivale as a "Well-made debut feature by a former Tim Burton collaborator". [7]
In May 1999, it was announced Vatical Entertainment and Terraglyph Interactive Studios had been working on a tie-in video game based on the film to be released on Nintendo 64, Sony PlayStation, and Game Boy Color with a playable demo set for that year's E3. [8] After the film failed to find widespread distribution, Vatical ultimately decided to cancel the game as TerraGlyph was beset by development issues that culminated with the company laying off a majority of their workforce leaving the game only 50-60% complete. [9]

Carnivàle is an American television series set in the United States Dust Bowl during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The series, created by Daniel Knauf, ran for two seasons between 2003 and 2005. In tracing the lives of disparate groups of people in a traveling carnival, Knauf's story combined a bleak atmosphere with elements of the surreal in portraying struggles between good and evil and between free will and destiny. The show's mythology draws upon themes and motifs from traditional Christianity and gnosticism together with Masonic lore, particularly that of the Knights Templar order.

Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble!, known in Japan as Viewtiful Joe: Scratch!, is a video game developed by Clover Studio and published by Capcom for the Nintendo DS. Illbleed is a survival horror game developed by Crazy Games and released for the Dreamcast in 2001. It was published by Crazy Games in Japan and Amusement Interface Associate (AIA) in North America. The game follows Eriko Christy, a high school student who explores a horror-themed amusement park to find her missing friends. The player explores six haunted house attractions based on fictional horror films, detecting and neutralizing hidden traps and enemies which can harm or frighten Eriko and her friends.

South Park is a first-person shooter video game based on the American animated sitcom of the same name. The game was developed by Iguana Entertainment, using a modified version of the engine used in the Acclaim Entertainment-published Turok 2: Seeds of Evil; both games shared the same publisher and were released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998 in North America, and for Microsoft Windows in 1999. South Park was released in Europe and ported to the PlayStation in the latter year to coincide with the film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
Pain is an action video game developed by Idol Minds and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation 3. It was released as a downloadable title available from the PlayStation Store and was released in North America on November 29, 2007 and in the PAL region on March 20, 2008 and became the most popular downloadable game on the PlayStation Store. In June 2009, SCEE announced that the game was to be released on Blu-ray Disc. It was launched in Europe on June 24, 2009, in Australia on June 25, 2009 and in the UK on June 26, 2009. The Blu-ray version includes the original game as well as several other levels and features released as downloadable content for the PSN version. It is available in a collection which is available to download from the PlayStation Store called the 3D Collection. On November 26, 2013, the game's online features were disabled.
Ronald Norman Haddrick was an Australian actor, narrator and South Australian cricketer. In 2012, he received the Actors Equity Lifetime Achievement Award for his long and distinguished career in media, spanning some seventy years both locally and also in Britain. He appeared in many Shakespearean roles and often performed with theatre actress Ruth Cracknell.
