Caroline Lamb has served as the Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and Director General of Health and Social Care directorates since 2021.
Lamb studied at the King's College London,before training as a chartered accountant with KPMG. She worked with clients Castle Cement,Citibank,Nestlé and the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva. [1] [2]
Lamb qualified as a chartered accountant and later moved to Scotland,where she worked as the Director of Finance and Corporate Resources in NHS Education for Scotland (NES) from 2004 to 2014. She later served as the Acting Chief Executive for NES,before being appointed into the role on a full term basis the following year. [3]
In December 2019,Lamb joined the Scottish Government,where she led the Digital Health and Care Directorate. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic,she took on further responsibility for leading on the COVID-19 related ICU surge requirements;acting as Portfolio Director for Test and Protect in May 2020;and becoming Delivery Director for the Extended Seasonal Flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes in August 2020. In December 2020,she was announced as the new Chief Executive of NHS Scotland,as well as the new Director-General of the Scottish Government's Health and Social Care Directorates. She assumed both offices the following month. [5]

The Health and Social Care Directorates are a group of directorates of the Scottish Government. They are responsible for NHS Scotland,as well as policies on the development and implementation of health and social care.
The work of the Scottish Government is carried out by Directorates,each headed by a Director. The Directorates are grouped into a number of Directorates-General families,each headed by a Director-General. However,the individual Directorates are the building blocks of the system. The Directorates are further broken down into "Divisions" and then by teams. Divisions usually consist of 25-50 people. There is no direct correspondence between the political responsibilities of the Ministers in the Scottish Government and the Directorates,although in some cases there is considerable overlap. The Directorates are also responsible for a number of government agencies and non-departmental public bodies. Some government work is also carried out by Executive Agencies such as Transport Scotland,who sit outside the Directorates structure,but are also staffed by civil servants
Healthcare in Scotland is mainly provided by Scotland's public health service,NHS Scotland. It provides healthcare to all permanent residents free at the point of need and paid for from general taxation. Health is a matter that is devolved,and considerable differences have developed between the public healthcare systems in the countries of the United Kingdom,collectively the National Health Service (NHS). Though the public system dominates healthcare provision,private healthcare and a wide variety of alternative and complementary treatments are available for those willing and able to pay.
Health Education England (HEE) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care. Its function is to provide national leadership and coordination for the education and training within the health and public health workforce within England. It has been operational since June 2012.

She previously served as the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland from 2015 to 2020,having advised the Scottish Government's initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland.
Caroline Jane Gardner was the Auditor General for Scotland between June 2012 and July 2020. She is a former president of Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) 2006−7.
Angiolina A Foster is a Scottish civil servant who is the chief executive of NHS 24. She worked in Communities Scotland,rising to chief executive,then held Director positions in two of the directorates of Scottish Government:Strategy and Ministerial Support 2007–2011,Health and Social Care Integration 2011–2014. She returned to a chief executive position in special health boards following this.
Jason Andrew Leitch is the National Clinical Director of the Scottish Government. He is a Senior Clinical Advisor to the Scottish Government and a member of the Health and Social Care Management Board. Leitch provided key leadership throughout the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has been praised for his ability to translate complex scientific information to the public,providing calm and clear advice.
Public Health Scotland (PHS) is the national public health body for Scotland. It is a Special NHS Health Board,and it is jointly accountable to the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) and the Scottish Government. Fully exercising its functions from 1 April 2020 as Scotland's leading national agency for improving and protecting the health and well-being of all of Scotland's people,it is jointly sponsored by COSLA and the Scottish Government,and collaborates with third sector organisations.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland is part of the COVID-19 pandemic of coronavirus disease-2019,caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2. The first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Scotland on 1 March 2020. Community transmission was first reported on 11 March 2020,and the first confirmed death was on 13 March 2020.

The Birthday Honours are awarded as part of the Queen's Official Birthday celebrations during the month of June. The honours for New Zealand were announced on 1 June,and for Australia on 8 June.
