Catherine Lamwaka (born 25 December 1983) is a Ugandan politician and a member of the 11th Parliament of Uganda representing Omoro District.

Background

Lamwaka is a female member of the Parliament of Uganda. [1] She is a District Woman Representative for the Omoro District [2] and a member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party. The NRM party is the ruling political party in Uganda [3] under the chairmanship of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the president of Uganda. [4] She previously served as a Resident-District Commissioner for Gulu District [5] and Pader District. [6]

Education

Lamwaka started her primary education at Gulu Primary School where she completed her primary-leaving examinations. In 1996, she attended Sacred Heart Secondary School, Gulu, for her O-level and A-level education where she appeared for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations in 2000 and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations in 2002. [7] She later joined Gulu University where, in 2006, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in development studies. In 2008, she acquired a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management from the Uganda Management Institute.

Career

Since 2016, Lamwaka has been a member of the Parliament of Uganda, representing the people of the Omoro District as a District Woman Representative. [8] She serves on the Government Assurance Committee in the Parliament of Uganda and is a member of and vice chairperson for the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA). [9] She served under the office of the president as Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Gulu District, from 2014 to 2015 [10] and as Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Pader District, from 2010 to 2014. [11] Lamwaka served as a Community Development Officer for Amuru District from 2007 to 2010, [12] and earlier in her career as a research assistant for the Gulu NGO Forum from 2006 to 2007.

Achiro Lucy Otim, commonly referred to as Lucy Achiro Otim is a female Ugandan politician and a Gender Specialist. She is the district woman representative for Aruu North County consistency, Pader district in the 10th Parliament. Achiro belongs to an independent political party at the Parliament of Uganda. She won the parliamentary seat running as an independent candidate in 2016. Her tenure as member of parliament was cut short when the Ugandan supreme court nullified her election for non-compliance with electoral laws because the electoral commission failed to carry out a vote recount after she had won with a two vote margin, beating James Nabinson Kidega of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). However, she returned as member of parliament after being re-elected Aruu north member of parliament in the April 2017 election by again beating Kidega, this time 64 percent to 32 percent.

Aisha Sekindi is a Ugandan educator and legislator. As of February 2022, she serves as Uganda's Minister of State for Water and the woman representative for Kalungu district in Uganda's eleventh parliament. She replaced Hon. Ronald Kibuule who handed over the office in July 2021. She held the same position in Uganda's tenth parliament. Politically, she is affiliated to the National Resistance Movement under whose ticket she contested in the 2016 general election, achieving victory over Aisha Naluyati Waligo of the Democratic Party Uganda (DP).

Linda agnes Auma is a Ugandan politician and legislator, she represents the people of Lira district as woman member of parliament in the parliament of Uganda, which she entered on an independent ticket. Auma is the state minister for Gender and culture and the vice chairperson of the National women council. She is also the former Resident district commissioner (RDC) Of Amuru district.

Rose emma Cherukut is a Ugandan politician and legislator. She represents the people of Kween district as district woman MP in the parliament of Uganda. She is a member of National Resistance Movement (NRM) a party under the chairmanship of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni president of the republic of Uganda.
