Cedar Brook is a tributary of Cranbury Brook in Cranbury, New Jersey, United States.

A tributary or affluent is a stream or river that flows into a larger stream or main stem river or a lake. A tributary does not flow directly into a sea or ocean. Tributaries and the main stem river drain the surrounding drainage basin of its surface water and groundwater, leading the water out into an ocean.

Cranbury Brook, also known as Cranberry Brook, is a tributary of the Millstone River in Middlesex and Monmouth Counties, New Jersey in the United States.

Cranbury is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 3,857.

Course

Cedar Brook starts at 40°19′50″N74°27′27″W / 40.33056°N 74.45750°W / 40.33056; -74.45750 ,^[1] near Exit 8A on the New Jersey Turnpike. It flows southwest, crossing Applegarth Road and Prospect Plains Road before crossing the Turnpike. It then crosses Cranbury-South River Road and Route 130 and flows through a swamp area. It then crosses Plainsboro Cranbury Road before draining into Cranbury Brook at 40°19′16″N74°33′29″W / 40.32111°N 74.55806°W / 40.32111; -74.55806 .^[1]

The New Jersey Turnpike (NJTP), known colloquially as "the Turnpike", is a toll road in New Jersey, maintained by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA). With a total length of 122.40 miles (196.98 km), the turnpike's southern terminus is at the interchange with U.S. Route 130 (US 130) and Route 49, where the split of Interstate 295 (I-295) and US 40 occurs, near the border of Pennsville and Carneys Point townships in Salem County, one mile (1.6 km) east of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Its northern terminus is at the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, Bergen County, though the original terminus was at US 46 in Ridgefield Park. Construction of the mainline from concept to completion took 23 months, from 1950 to 1952. It was officially opened to traffic in November 1951, between its southern terminus and exit 10.

U.S. Route 130 is a north–south U.S. Highway completely within the state of New Jersey. It runs 83.46 mi (134.32 km) from Interstate 295 (I-295) and US 40 at Deepwater in Pennsville Township, Salem County, where the road continues south as Route 49, north to US 1 in North Brunswick Township, Middlesex County, where Route 171 continues north into New Brunswick. The route briefly runs concurrent with its parent US 30 near Camden, about one-third of the way to New Brunswick. The road runs within a close distance of I-295 south of Bordentown and a few miles from the New Jersey Turnpike for its entire length, serving as a major four- to six-lane divided local road for most of its length. US 130 passes through many towns including Penns Grove, Bridgeport, Westville, Camden, Pennsauken, Burlington, Bordentown, Hightstown, and North Brunswick.
