Centerville School is a K-12 school in Centerville, unincorporated St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is a part of St. Mary Parish School Board and is the only full K-12 public school in the parish. In addition to Centerville it also serves Garden City and Ricohoc. [2]

Holy Family Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Davenport. The parish is the result of a merger between Saints Mary and Joseph Parish and Sacred Heart Parish in the city of Fort Madison, Iowa, United States. It maintains both of the former parish church buildings as worship sites. The oldest parish in town, St. Joseph, and St. Mary of the Assumption had merged in the 1990s. St. Mary of the Assumption Church, which became Saints Mary and Joseph, is located at 11th Street and Avenue E. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The Columbian Chemicals plant explosion was a hoax claiming an explosion at a chemical plant in Centerville, St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. On September 11, 2014, reports of an alleged explosion were sent to local residents via text messages and spread through various social media. Several reports claimed that the militant group ISIS had taken responsibility for the attack. St. Mary Parish officials claimed that the reports of an explosion were a hoax. A spokesperson for the company told reporters that the reports of an explosion were a hoax:

We have been informed by the community that a text message has been received by several individuals indicating a release of toxic gas from the Birla Carbon's Columbian Chemicals Plant near Centerville, Louisiana. The content as stated by the text message is not true. There has been no release of such toxic gas, explosion or any other incident in our facility. We are not aware of the origin of this text message. Law enforcement authorities have been contacted and are following up on this matter.

Garden City is an unincorporated community in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community is on the south bank of the Bayou Teche, 3 miles (4.8 km) southeast of Franklin and 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Centerville another unincorporated community. Garden City had a post office until it closed on September 24, 2011; it still has its own ZIP code, 70540.
