CentraCare is an integrated health care system in Central Minnesota. The nonprofit includes six hospitals, seven senior care facilities, 18 clinics, four pharmacies and numerous inpatient and outpatient specialty care services. [1]

Major entities

St. Cloud Hospital

Founded in 1886 by the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict, St. Cloud Hospital is a Catholic, not-for-profit hospital located in St. Cloud, Minnesota. It offers inpatient and outpatient services, including care for heart disease and cancer, preventive health screenings and behavioral health services.

The teaching hospital employs more than 4,900 staff, 450 physicians and 1,000 volunteers. [2] It serves 690,000 people in the surrounding 12-county area and ranks among the 100 TOP Hospitals [3] nationwide according to Truven Health Analytics, a national healthcare rating agency.

CentraCare — Long Prairie

CentraCare — Long Prairie serves Todd County, Minnesota and employs more than 250 staff (2014). The Minnesota Department of Health certified CentraCare Clinic — Long Prairie as a designated health care home site through November 2015 [4] and accredited Long Prairie Hospital as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital. [5] CentraCare — Long Prairie's long-term care facility was also among the 10 percent of Minnesota care centers awarded five stars on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Compare rating system. [6]

CentraCare — Melrose

This network serves 10,000 residents in and around western Stearns County, Minnesota and employs more than 280 staff. [7] The Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program at CentraCare — Melrose is certified by the American Diabetes Association, [8] and Melrose Clinic is a health care home-certified site through November 2015, per Minnesota Department of Health guidelines. [9]

CentraCare — Sauk Centre

CentraCare — Sauk Centre serves 10,000 residents in and around western Stearns County, Minnesota and employs more than 230 staff.

CentraCare — Paynesville

CentraCare Clinic

CentraCare Clinic operates more than 30 clinics and several specialty clinics in Central Minnesota and employs about 1,000 staff. CentraCare Clinic includes more than 260 providers who practice 25 medical specialties and offer outreach services in 40 communities. CentraCare eClinic provides an online diagnosis option. St. Benedict's Senior Community

St. Benedict's Senior Community provides nursing services, including short stay and hospice care, as well as services for those with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory-loss conditions. Senior housing offerings include retirement, assisted living and income-based apartments. St. Benedict's has locations in both St. Cloud and Monticello, Minnesota, [10] and care center services include therapeutic recreation, nutrition, rehabilitation services, respite, hospice and spiritual care, social services and a beauty/barber salon.

CentraCare Foundation

CentraCare Foundation engages the philanthropic community in partnership to improve health and health care. The Foundation accepts charitable contributions for all CentraCare entities. In fiscal year 2014-2015, CentraCare Foundation gave more than $5 million in health care grants throughout Central Minnesota. [11] [12]

Carris Health

A subsidiary of CentraCare, Carris Health was formed in 2018. In June 2022, Carris Health was renamed to CentraCare. [13]

Willmar's Rice Memorial Hospital

In April 2021, CentraCare, which owns Willmar's Rice Memorial Hospital through its affiliate Carris Health, will bear the $32 million debt associated with the hospital from the city of Willmar. [14]

Area code 320 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan for most of the central part of the U.S. state of Minnesota. The numbering plan area (NPA) excludes the Twin Cities metro region. The area code was created in 1996, by a split of NPA 612, which stretched border-to-border from Wisconsin through the Twin Cities to South Dakota. 320 was the fourth Minnesota area code, and the first new one in the state in 42 years.

Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is a Level I adult and pediatric trauma center and safety net hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the county seat of Hennepin County. The primary 484-bed facility is on six city blocks across the street from U.S. Bank Stadium, with neighborhood clinics in the Minneapolis Whittier and East Lake neighborhoods, and the suburban communities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley, St. Anthony and Richfield. A new clinic in the North Loop neighborhood downtown opened in 2017. HCMC has recognized trauma surgery specialists, transplant services, stroke specialists, advanced endoscopy/hepatobilliary center, and hyperbaric oxygen chamber. A new outpatient clinic building opened in 2018. In March 2018, the provider that operates HCMC was rebranded as Hennepin Healthcare. However, the hospital retained the name HCMC.

BJC HealthCare is a non-profit health care organization based in St. Louis, Missouri. BJC includes two nationally recognized academic hospitals – Barnes–Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital, which are both affiliated with the Washington University School of Medicine.

Aspirus Medford Hospital is a non-profit, primary care healthcare organization in Taylor and Price Counties in north-central Wisconsin, United States. Headquartered in Medford, Wisconsin, it is composed of a hospital, a continuum of senior care services, therapy centers, a pharmacy, a fitness center and gym, and primary care clinics located in Gilman, Medford, Prentice, Rib Lake, and Phillips, Wisconsin. The organization is partnered with Aspirus in Wausau, Wisconsin. It employs 525 individuals in the region.

Lakewood Health System is a not-for-profit healthcare facility located in Staples, Minnesota. Lakewood Health System was created from a long lineage of healthcare systems dating back to 1936. Lakewood Health System's first name was the Staples Municipal Hospital. Over a period of years, the system became a not-for-profit and a board was elected to manage profits and debts to serve the communities within its service area.

The Medicare Physician Group Practice (PGP) demonstration was Medicare's first physician pay-for-performance (P4P) initiative. The demonstration established incentives for quality improvement and cost efficiency. Ten large physician groups participated in the demonstration, which started on April 1, 2005 and ran for 5 years. Previous funding arrangements, like the volume performance standard (VPS) and the sustainable growth rate (SGR) did not provide incentives to slow the growth of services. The Medicare PGP demonstration was intended to overcome that limitation in previous funding arrangements.

Interfaith Medical Center is a hospital located in Brooklyn, New York. With facilities in Crown Heights, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Prospect Heights, it is a full-service non-profit community hospital that has 287 beds and serves more than 11,000 inpatients each year. It also has more than 200,000 outpatient visits and services and 50,000 emergency department visits annually. Interfaith is also a teaching hospital, with four graduate medical education residency programs, and fellowship programs in Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiology and Gastroenterology. Interfaith continues to serve as a safety-net hospital for its surrounding community since it emerged from bankruptcy in 2014.

The Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VAHCS) is network of hospital and outpatient clinics based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. It belongs to the VISN23 VA Midwest Health Care Network managed by the Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Minneapolis VAHCS provides healthcare for United States military veterans in areas such as medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. As a teaching hospital, it operates comprehensive training programs for multiple treatment specialties. The Minneapolis VAHCS also hosts one of the largest research programs of any VA health care system and maintains research affiliations with the University of Minnesota.

The 2003 Saint John's Johnnies football team represented Saint John's University as a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) during the 2003 NCAA Division III football season. In their 51st season under head coach John Gagliardi, the Johnnies compiled a 14–0 record and won the NCAA Division III championship.

Meridian Behavioral Health is a provider of behavioral health services in the Midwestern United States. The company operates twenty Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredited substance use disorder (SUD) facilities in Minnesota providing residential and outpatient treatment for those suffering from a chemical dependency or addiction. The company is based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul and its operations date back to the 1970s through Twin Town Treatment Center.
