The Professional Golfers' Association of America is an American organization of golf professionals that was founded in 1916. Consisting of nearly 29,000 members, the PGA of America's undertaking is to establish and elevate the standards of the profession and to grow interest and participation in the game of golf.
The PGA Championship is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The PGA is one of the four men's major golf championships, the others being The Open, the Masters and the U.S. Open.

A Monday qualifier is a stroke play golf tournament held on the Monday before a professional golf tournament that awards top finishers entry into the professional tournament. Those who enter the Monday qualifiers are those with no status on the tour sponsoring the event or too far down the tour's priority list to earn direct entry. The players who earn entry into the professional tournament in this manner are also called Monday qualifiers. In the 1960s, players vying to become Monday qualifiers for a tour event were informally referred to as "rabbits", a term they found disparaging.
The Shawnee Open was a golf tournament that was first held in 1912. It was played at The Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort in Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. The course was completed in 1911, the first design by renowned architect A. W. Tillinghast. The Shawnee Open was recognized as a PGA Tour event from 1916 to 1937. While no longer recognized as a PGA Tour event, there have been more than 60 Shawnee Opens played. It was sponsored by the Philadelphia section of the PGA of America.
The South Florida PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the championship of the South Florida section of the PGA of America. The tournament has been played annually since 1979, the year the section was founded. Alan Morin and Paul Trittler have the most victories with three. PGA Tour winners who have also won the South Florida PGA Championship include Bruce Fleischer (twice), Julius Boros, Bob Murphy, and Tom Shaw.
The Middle Atlantic PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the championship of the Middle Atlantic section of the PGA of America. The tournament has been played annually since 1932 in Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, DC. Fred Funk, eight-time winner on the PGA Tour, holds the record with six Middle Atlantic PGA victories. Other PGA Tour winners who have also won the Middle Atlantic PGA Championship include Chandler Harper, Bobby Cruickshank, Lew Worsham, and George Fazio.
The Northeast New York PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the championship of the Northeast New York section of the PGA of America. Armand Farina, World War II veteran and golf course designer, holds the record for most victories with five until Scott Berliner won in 2020 and he currently has 7 wins. Gene Sarazen, winner of 39 PGA Tour events and seven major championships, won the Northeast New York PGA Championship in 1966 at the age of 64.
Francis Thomas Sprogell, Sr. was an American professional golfer who played in the early-to-mid 20th century. His best finish in a major championship was a tie for ninth place in the 1922 PGA Championship. He won the 1921 Tennessee Open and the 1925 Michigan PGA Championship.
