The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) is a congressional caucus affiliated with the Democratic Party in the United States Congress. The CPC represents the furthest left-leaning faction of the Democratic Party. It was founded in 1991 and has grown since then,becoming the second-largest Democratic caucus in the House of Representatives.

The 2014 United States House of Representatives elections in Virginia were held on Tuesday,November 4,2014,to elect the 11 members from the state of Virginia to the United States House of Representatives,one from each of the state's 11 congressional districts. On the same day,elections took place for other federal and state offices,including an election to the United States Senate. Primary elections,in which party nominees were chosen,were held on June 10,2014.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Virginia since October 6,2014,following the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court not to hear an appeal of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling in Bostic v. Schaefer. Same-sex marriages subsequently began at 1:00 p.m. on October 6 after the Fourth Circuit issued its mandate,and since then Virginia has performed legal marriages of same-sex couples and recognized out-of-state same-sex marriages. Previously,the state had passed a statute prohibiting same-sex marriage in 1975,and further restrictions were added in 1997 and 2004,which made "void and unenforceable" any arrangements between same-sex couples bestowing the "privileges or obligations of marriage". Voters approved an amendment to the Constitution of Virginia reinforcing the existing laws in 2006. On January 14,2014,a U.S. district court judge ruled in Bostic that Virginia's statutory and constitutional ban on the state recognition of same-sex marriages were unconstitutional,a decision upheld by the Fourth Circuit on July 28,2014.

David L. Owen is an American Republican politician from Virginia. He was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election from the 57th district. He represents portions of western Henrico County and eastern Goochland in the House of Delegates. He was first elected in 2023 with 51% of the vote,defeating Democratic candidate Susanna Gibson.
