Chakin' is a compilation album by Shit and Shine, released on 10 February 2015 by Astral Spirits. The album comprises improvised jazz sessions recorded for Clouse's Tuesday Jazz Chat on YouTube. The music is comparable to Sun Ra and Bitches Brew-era Miles Davis. [1]

Release and reception

The vinyl pressing was limited to four-hundred and seven copies, with five unique sleeve illustrations: Green background print, limited to one-hundred and forty-nine copies. Green/grey background print, limited to three copies. Green/yellow background print, limited to eight copies. Grey background print, limited to ninety-nine copies. Yellow background print, limited to one-hundred and forty-eight copies. It made seventh place on The Vinyl Factory's "The 10 Most Collectable Records of 2015" end of the year list, with the columnist saying, "the concept is charmingly shambolic, somewhat random and wonderfully egalitarian." [2]

Tarquin's Seaweed Farm, subtitled "Words from a Hessian Sack", is the first album to be released by Steven Wilson under the pseudonym of Porcupine Tree. It was originally a compiled cassette of experimental music made by Steven Wilson for his joke band he formed with his friend Malcom Stocks. The cassette was only sent out to a few people, but was enough to give the band a bit of fame in the UK underground music scene of the time, being picked up by the underground magazine Freakbeat. The album marries the cacophonous noise rock sound of their earlier work with modern dance music, while touching upon krautrock, jazz fusion, funk and electronic music.

The Catholics are an Australian jazz ensemble led by Lloyd Swanton on acoustic and electric bass guitar, percussion and piano. Other long-term members include Sandy Evans on tambourine, tenor and soprano saxophones, and James Greening on trombone. They have been nominated for ARIA Awards for Best Jazz Album in 1994, 1997 and 2000 (Barefoot). Swanton is also a member of a jazz trio, the Necks; Evans was also in Ten Part Invention and has released solo material.
