Chakradharpur railway division

Chakradharpur railway division is one of the four railway divisions under South Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. This railway division was formed on 14 April 1952 and its headquarter is located at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district of the state of Jharkhand of India.

Kharagpur railway division, Adra railway division and Ranchi railway division are the other three railway divisions under SER Zone headquartered at Garden Reach, Calcutta.

The Chakradharpur Railway Division extends from:
1. Asanboni station in Jharkhand to Jharsuguda station in Odisha on the Howrah - Mumbai Main Line, important stations in this route includes: Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela and Jharsuguda.
Chakradharpur Division also includes the following lines:
2. Rajkharsawan station to Gua/Bolani Khadan in Jharkhand/Odisha respectively and from Padapahar station in Jharkhand to Jaroli station in Odisha, important stations in this route are Chaibasa, Dangoaposi, Noamundi, Barbil and Banspani.
3. Sini station to Manikui station and the Kandra-Gamharia stretch in the state of Jharkhand.
4. The Tatanagar station in Jharkhand to Gorumahisani/Badampahar stations via Rairangpur Jn. in Odisha.
5. Rourkela station to Birmitrapur station in Odisha.
6. Bondamunda station to Barsuwan/Kiriburu via Bimlagarh Jn. in Odisha/Jharkhand respectively.
7. Bondamunda station to Nuagaon station in Odisha on the Bondamunda - Ranchi line.
8. Jharsuguda to Sardega New line for Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited in Odisha.
The Division serves three districts of Jharkhand (East and West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan) and five districts of Odisha (Sundragarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar).
Tatanagar being the most important station of the Division, followed by Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Chakradharpur, etc. The main source of income of the division is from Freight and it is one of the highest earning Division out of 67 divisions of entire Indian Railways. The major components carried by Freight Trains in this section are Coal, Iron Ore, Finished Steel, Manganese and Limestone. In Financial Year 2016-17 Chakradharpur Division crossed loading capacity of 100 Million Tonnes and the target is increasing year on year. The major industries served by the division are Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Lafarge Cement, Associate Cement Company (ACC), Orissa Cement Ltd. (OCL), Bihar Sponge Iron, SAIL Gua/Kiriburu/Manoharpur, SAIL Rourkela, Vedanta Jharsuguda, Jindal (JSW), Adhunik Ispat Alloys, Usha Martin, Mahanadi Coal Fields Ltd. (MCL), etc. and many other small and medium industries.

Grand Chord is part of the Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line and Howrah–Allahabad–Mumbai line. It acts as a link between Sitarampur, (Asansol), and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Uttar Pradesh, previously known as Mughalsarai Junction, and covers a stretch of 450.7 km (280.1 mi). The Coal India Corridor line that branches off from Dhanbad Junction and rejoins the Grand Chord at Son Nagar Junction is another major coal loading hub. It is a fully electrified, triple line section from Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay to Son Nagar and double line section from Son Nagar to Sitarampur. There are plans to triple the lines from Son Nagar to Dhanbad to accommodate the increasing traffic.. The entire line lies under the jurisdiction of three divisions, Mughalsarai railway division, Dhanbad railway division and Asansol railway division. The Grand chord section is the lifeline of the country, 2nd busiest railway section of India after Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Uttar Pradesh Main Line section, on which coal, steel and other important goods are moved from Eastern section to Western and Northern sections of the country. In the down direction, the traffic consists of mostly food grains, fertilizers and empty wagons for coal loading in the Jharkhand and West Bengal coal fields. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction is a transit division and the main objective is to maintain mobility of high density traffic. The present capacity of the Grand Chord is being optimally utilized. Traversing through Chota Nagpur Plateau of Jharkhand as well as parts of the fertile Gangetic plains of Bihar, the Grand Chord covers a stretch of 450.7 km (280.1 mi). The Grand Chord is renowned for its remarkable controlling of passenger traffic, despite being burdened with freight traffic.

Chaibasa is a town and a municipality in West Singhbhum district in the state of Jharkhand, India. Chaibasa is the district headquarters of West Singhbhum district. It is also the headquarter of Singhbhum Kolhan division headed by the Divisional commissioner.

Rourkela Railway Division refers to a campaign for a new railway division which would include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Kendujhargarh districts of Orissa, under EcoR. These stations are now under SER. Subrat Patnaik and the members of the Rourkela Development Forum have publicly demanded such a division. Recently Shri Naveen Patnaik demanded Inclusion of Rourkela and Jajpur as Railway division under EcoR(currently These stations are under SER) following division of Waltair division from EcoR, which would lead to Unification of Railways in Odisha

The Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line is a railway line in eastern India.
