Charles Barugahare (born September 13, 1972) is a Ugandan Financial Consultant, Auditor and an author. [1] He is the former University Secretary of Makerere University, Oldest University in Uganda. Currently, he is the Director of Retirement Life Hub [2] that is knowned for the 30-day Personal Finance Improvement Challenge. [3] He also serves as a board member of Kiira Motors Corporation, [4] a state enterprise aimed at commercialising the Kiira Electric Vehicle Project. [5]

Education

Charles Barugahare went to Makerere University where he pursued Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and later Eastern & Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) for Master of Business Administration before joining Atlantic International University for his Doctor of Business Administration. [6]

Professional career

Charles Barugahare has served in different organisations like Care International in Uganda, The Aids Support Organisation (TASO) and Makerere University where he served as the University Secretary, [7] [8] Accounting Officer of the university, [9] Custodian of the University Seal, and Administrator of University Assets where he was replaced by Mr. Yusuf Kiranda. [10]

For the dedicated service and contribution to Makerere University and the country, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda awarded Charles Barugahare a Golden Jubilee Medal on 1 May 2018. [11]

The 30-Day Personal Finance Improvement Challenge

Under the Finance Literacy Improvement Program, [12] Charles led the team in developing the 30-Day Personal Finance Improvement Challenge [13] [14] that is packaged in both the book [15] and in form of an online Course [16] that has detailed examples. The Book was reviewed by Owek. Robert Wagwa Nsibirwa, the Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer of Buganda Kingdom.

The book was launched at the 99th District Conference of Rotary that took place from 24 April 2024 to 27th April 2024 at Speke Resort Munyonyo. [17] [18]

Girls in Uganda are disproportionately discriminated against in terms of education; they face harsher barriers when trying to gain an education and it has left the female population disenfranchised, despite government efforts to close the gap.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Makerere University</span> Ugandan public university

Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922, and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. These colleges include College of Natural Sciences (CONAS), College of Health Sciences (CHS), College of Engineering Art & Design (CEDAT), College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (CAES), College Of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS), College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHUSS), College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS), College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources & Bio-security (COVAB), College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). In addition, Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.

Makerere College School is a co-educational government aided O and A Level school founded in 1945 by Makerere University. In 1945 Makerere University was still a constituent college of the University of London. The school is located on the main campus of Makerere University, adjacent to the College of Education and External Studies on Makerere Hill Road.

He was appointed to that position on 1 March 2015, replacing John Chrysostom Muyingo; in the reshuffle of June 2016, however, he was not reappointed. As a cabinet minister, he was also an ex officio member of parliament. Before his ministerial appointment, he was a deputy vice chancellor at Makerere University, the oldest and largest of the eight public universities in Uganda.

Gertrude Kayaga Mulindwa is a Ugandan librarian who was the second director of the National Library of Uganda and is the director of the African Library and Information Association and Institution. She also holds various voluntary positions at organizations that promote literacy and library services throughout Uganda.

Kiira Motors Corporation or KMC is a State Enterprise in Uganda established to champion the Development of the Domestic Automotive Value Chain for job and wealth creation and commercialize the Kiira Electric Vehicle Project. The Equity Partners are the Government of the Republic of Uganda represented by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Office of the President holding 96% of the initial stock and Makerere University holding 4%.

Aaron Kirunda is a Ugandan social entrepreneur and public figure. He is a co-founder and Chief Executive at enjuba where he dedicates his work to empowering people to reach their full potential through education. enjuba runs the National Spelling Bee in Uganda, a catalytic program that reaches millions of pupils in primary schools, helping them improve their literacy, develop 21st century skills. enjuba also publishes children's books and conducts teacher training programs.

John Kakungulu Walugembe is a Ugandan business executive, economist, author, entrepreneur and scientist. He is the founder of Oxford International Development Advisors Ltd (OXIDAL) and co-founder of the Oxford Green Partnership, Better Livelihoods Inc. and the Water and Sanitation Entrepreneurs Association Uganda (WASEU). The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MSTI), is a cabinet-level government ministry of Uganda. Dr. Sheikh Anas Kaliisa was a Ugandan Islamic scholar, academician, and a senior political analyst. He was a personal tutor to president Idi Amin's children. He served as a lecturer and Vice Rector at the Islamic University in Uganda.
