Charles Sigfred Chieng (born 27 June 1954) [1] is a Micronesian politician, and as of 9 January 2023, the ninth governor of Yap.
Chieng studied political science at the University of Guam. He obtained a bachelors in political science and a bachelors in secondary education from the University of the Incarnate Word in Texas. He has a masters degree in regional planning. [2]
Chieng ran in the 2022 election for governor of Yap State [2] against the incumbent governor Jesse Salalu and former Cabinet official James Gartamag Lukan. Chieng won the three-way election with a 44.2% plurality of the vote corresponding to 1,630 votes. [3] [4]
The Federated States of Micronesia, or simply Micronesia, is an island country in Micronesia, a subregion of Oceania. He served as the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020, MP for Bandar Kuching from March 2004 to May 2018 and MLA for Kota Sentosa from May 2006 to December 2021. He is a member, National Vice Chairman, State Chairman of Sarawak, Branch Chairman of Kuching and State Youth Advisor of Sarawak as well as Bandar Kuching of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the PH and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Alternatif (BA) coalitions.

Arthur "Art" Cua Yap is a Filipino politician who is the former governor of Bohol from 2019 to 2022. He was the secretary of the Department of Agriculture under the Arroyo administration from 2004 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2007. Eric Go Yap is a Filipino politician serving as the Representative for Benguet's lone congressional district since 2022, and was the district's legislative caretaker from January 2020 until he was elected in his own right. He was a party-list representative for ACT-CIS from 2019 to 2022, and is the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations since March 2020.

Jesse John Salalu is a Micronesian politician who served as the eighth Governor of Yap from December 29, 2021 to January 9, 2023. Salalu was sworn into office following Henry Falan being ousted by the Yap legislature. He previously served as lieutenant Governor of Yap under Falan from January 2019 to December 2021. He was the first Governor of Yap to be born on the outer islands, which meant his lieutenant governor had to have been born on the main island of Yap.
Henry S. Falan is a Micronesian politician and the former Governor of Yap from January 19, 2019, to December 17, 2022. Falan was removed from his position as governor by the Yap state legislature. Jesse Salalu, his former Lieutenant Governor, took his place as Governor of Yap.
