Charles C. Jenkins II (born December 14, 1975) is an American gospel musician. He started his music career in 2012 with the release of The Best of Both Worlds by Inspired People and EMI Gospel. This would be his Billboard magazine breakthrough release. His second album, Any Given Sunday, was released by Inspired People and Motown Gospel in 2015. The album again placed on the Billboard magazine charts.

Early life

Jenkins was born on December 14, [1] 1975 in Saint Petersburg, FL [2] as Charles Jenkins II. [3] He is a graduate of both Moody Bible Institute and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. [3] After college, he became the pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, where Clay Evans was the founder. [4]

Music career

His music career got started in April 2012, with the release of the single “Awesome.” It was then followed by the album The Best of Both Worlds by Inspired People and EMI Gospel on June 12, 2012. [5] This album was his breakthrough release on the Billboard magazine charts at No. 41 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 1 [6] on the Gospel Albums chart. [7] The album was rated four stars out of five by AllMusic, [5] and an eight out of ten by Cross Rhythms. [8] His subsequent album, Any Given Sunday, was released on March 17, 2015. The album charted on The Billboard 200 at No. 90, [6] and No. 1 on the Gospel Albums chart. [9]

Personal life

Jenkins is married to Dr. Tara Rawls Jenkins and together they have three children, Princess, Paris, and Charles III. He served as Senior Pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (Fellowship Chicago or The Ship) from 2000 to 2019. [3] He serves as a Ministry Partner at Vanderbloemen Search Group.

Sheri Jones-Moffett, is an American gospel musician. She started her music career, in 1992, with the Tri City Singers, which was a group assembled and led by Donald Lawrence. Her solo career got started in 2009 with Renewed that was released by EMI Gospel. She got a Grammy Award nomination for Renewed at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album category. She released the second album, Power & Authority, in 2014 by Motown Gospel. These albums both chart on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.

Clay Evans was an African American Baptist pastor and founder of the influential Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois, famous for its gospel music infused Sunday service and choir. Evans released his first musical project in 1984, What He's Done For Me with Savoy Records. All-in-all, he has had eleven albums that have charted on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart over the course of his career. He received a nomination for the Best Gospel Album at the 1997 Soul Train Music Awards.

Jason Lamar Champion is an American gospel musician. He started a music career in 1992 with Men at Large. He left the group in 2007 due to a "newly blossoming relationship with Jesus Christ." In 2008, he signed to EMI CMG, releasing his first and only album, Reflections, in 2008. It charted on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart, and he got a Grammy Award nomination at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album category.

Allen & Allen are an American urban contemporary gospel jazz-funk and soul jazz African-American music duo from Daytona Beach, Florida, and they started their music recording careers in 1994. The duo released seven albums with four labels, and five of those albums charted on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart.

LaRue Howard is an American gospel musician. Her first album, I'm Free, was released by Tribe Records in 2004. The subsequent album, How Great Is Our God, was released in 2008 by EMI. This album was a Billboard magazine breakthrough release upon the Christian Albums and Gospel Albums charts. The song, "How Great Is Our God", won her the GMA Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year at the 40th GMA Dove Awards in 2009.

Keith Anthony Staten is an American gospel musician. He started his solo music career, in 1990, with the release of, From the Heart, by Lection Records. This was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. His subsequent album, No Greater Love, was released in 1995 by Glorious Music, but it failed to chart. The third album, Worship in the House, was released by Word Records in tandem with Epic Records in 1996, and this album charted on the Christian Albums chart. He released, Glory in the House, in 1995 with the aforementioned labels, however this time around it charted on the Gospel Albums chart.

V3, also known, called, and referred to as V Three, are an African-American all-female sister Christian R&B and urban contemporary gospel music trio, who primarily plays contemporary R&B songs. They come from Atlanta, Georgia, where the group started making music in 2006. The group have released a studio album, V3. This album was their breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine charts.

Darrel Darnell Petties is an American gospel musician, worship leader and pastor. He performs urban contemporary gospel and traditional black gospel. He performs with his choir, Strength in Praise. His first album was Count It All Joy, released in 2006, from EMI Gospel. Two songs from the album, "Yes Lord" and "Thank Ya Jesus", charted on the Billboard magazine Gospel Songs chart. Two songs also appeared on the WOW Gospel Albums: in 2005, "Glory Hallelujah", and in 2007, "Thank Ya Jesus".
