Charlie Casper (born 4 April 2005) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Burnley.
He spent a brief loan spell with Grimsby Town during the 2025–26 season.
Casper joined the Burnley academy at a young age and progressed through the club's youth system, initially playing as an outfield player before converting to goalkeeper during his development years. He signed scholarship terms with Burnley in July 2021 and later turned professional with the club. [1]
On 2 September 2025, Casper joined Grimsby Town on a season-long loan. The move was intended to provide him with senior first-team experience during the 2025–26 campaign, as understudy to Christy Pym. [2]
Casper made his senior debut for Grimsby Town on 7 October 2025 in an EFL Trophy group stage match against Doncaster Rovers at Blundell Park, which ended in a 3–0 home defeat. [3] He played a further EFL Trophy game in a 5–3 win over Everton. [4]
He made his League debut in a 1–0 defeat at home to Chesterfield. He was subbed on in the second half after Pym had been sent off, later conceding a late goal. [5]
Despite the initial loan agreement running for the full season, on 5 January 2026, the loan spell came to an early end. [6] In recent weeks with Pym injured, Grimsby had chosen to use emergency loans for Richard O’Donnell and Jackson Smith in favour of playing Casper. [7] [8]
